WoW Moviewatch: Warcraft Final Fantasy Style 7

Aug 18th 2009 9:58AM (WoW)
@ Albrechtae:

There is no such thing as a period, it's called a full stop. If you are going to attack people, at least get it right. The language you are using is English, not American. We would apreciete that if you are going to be an arse with it, that you at least learn what bits of it are called. That said i am also heavily dislexic, so my use of English here will be poor. I however do not think attacking a blind dislexic is a fun thing. How about you go push some people out of wheelchairs and shout "your walking wrong". Its narrow minded biggots like you who are a plague on our world.

Now onto the machinma; this was as appauling as Albrechtae's comment. badly writen, badly acted and in no way whatsoever resembled Final Fantasy 7. It did maybe have a touch of Final Fantasy 10-12 in it, but they are very poor games indeed. Final Fantasy 7 has a very particular style and substance that has completly aluded the author.

That said he obviously has a tallent for animation, im not sure i like the style, but it is crisp and well executed. i would sugest he works with a team and animates a story someone else writes.

Officers' Quarters: The new loot drama

Dec 23rd 2008 7:22AM (WoW)
loot distribution is easy

a) does person x deserve loot

b) can they use it

c) is it an upgrade

easy!

if you have two people who deserve loot and need the upgrade then they /roll off.

i realy dont see how its any more complex than that

All the World's a Stage: So you want to be a Mage

magic does require speach, and the words are important, it just doesnt matter what language you speek them in.

some languages are more potant than others however, so most spells are actually said in elven.

the reason curse of tongues works is due to the fact that daemonic languages are extreamly powerful, but are long winded, with huge words. they take an awful lot to say small amounts. so to say the same spell takes longer

Stuff talks WoW stuff

i love it when stupid poeple get paid to write about things they dont know about. like when you have "news" about wars where they report 157 casualties in 3 years as "loosing the war" anywho i digress

its anoying enough trying to tell somone who doesnt play wow about wow when your a full time player yourself. but to have somone who clearly knows nothing about the game do it, is quite frankly poisenious.

but it is solvable, wy do they never outsorce an article from someone who knows, or at least ask somone who knows for their input. but like most jurno rubish its about spinning a story teh way you want it not telling the truth.

sadly articles like this are the be all and end all of modern media. i think the reason i like wow insider so much is because it is as genuine as a medium can get these days.

they should ban all forms of media eccept somethingawful.com at least thy dont realy give a shit what people think or even if they read. now i come to think of it, maddox should probably be prime minister

Forum drama leads to legal threats

Jun 3rd 2008 12:33PM (WoW)
well in english law a threat cannot have a negative modifier.

"its just a game...its not like one of us are going to show up at your doorstep and throw you a beatin." is not a threat.

it does not have the conditions to be a threat, there is no obvious mens rea. there is no corpus.

you can have conditions in threats eg

"do this OR i will do that" is a threat as it is loaded with intent and shows an obvious mens rea, the corpus is still absent but intent is enough.

you canot sue somone in england for not threatening you, however this is not in the english court. so your fucked

Some remarks on drop rates

Apr 30th 2008 3:29PM (WoW)
i think alot of people miss the fact that drop rates secure the "theoretical average" over the whole population of a server, if not the entire world of servers.

"MACE OF YOUR QUEST" drops from "EVIL BOG MAN THING ONE" a theoretical 10% of the time. but your drop rate although still 10% may look more like 99% or 0.0001%.

a nice way to put this is

if you roll one million dice one million times you will get very nice and near stat averages, but each individual dice may have rolled one million ones (any warhammer players will agree to this).

you are simply a die. your may never drop, your mate billy might get them everytime.

proability is a biatch

so is TK

reply to TK, im dislexic, so thank you for attacking a disability in a public thread nothing to do with what my disability affects.

also, you understood what i meant, so why try a cheep shot because your to stupid to realise that spelling doesnt have to acurate, but maths does,

im glad to see out of teh 1st 8 posts there is only one "duhhhh i dont like maffs" quote.

thx for the post, i enjoy probability. the fantistic symplisity of singular probabilities combined with the excruciatingly complex detail that probabilitiy mathematics brings makes for some very interesting thinking.

=)
