Zero Punctuation review of Super Mario Galaxy confirms death wish

Jan 2nd 2008 4:47PM (Joystiq)
True, but it's nowhere near as funny when you know he's clutching at straws, almost making shit up, or getting it just plain wrong.

His best reviews are of the games I haven't played :P

Zero Punctuation review of Super Mario Galaxy confirms death wish

This review put all his others into perspective: EXAGGERATION. He comes up with a minor gripe, and explodes it into something more hilarious but less accurate.

I thought this review was much more contrived than he claimed Galaxy itself to be.

Witness Super Mario Galaxy's deepest secrets

Same. I'd rather have the spring powerup be much less challenging – since the game was way too challenging to begin with.

GT5 Prologue seen driving into uncanny valley

I don't agree, I played the demo and I didn't like the uber realism. I loved the GT series in my youth, but I've since been turned right off. Perhaps it's just me that's moved on.

Wiis going for tons of money on Ebay

Anyone in the UK wanting a Wii: Import from Australia or New Zealand – they're everywhere here (especially in NZ) and you can buy them used for about $200 USD on our local auction sites.

Critics: Hitman film more like Hit-meh

I'm intrigued. If video games are becoming so much like movies, how come no movies of video games are any good, and no video games of movies are any good?

Super Mario Galaxy soars with 500k units sold in US first week

Nov 21st 2007 4:14PM (Joystiq)
This is massively TLDR but I've got a point to throw in here. Halo 3, was marketed around it's release date. Whoever said that the INTENSE marketing of halo 3 wouldn't have added much to sales is probably right. What it DID DO however is made EVERYONE clear on when it was launching and compelling them to buy it at launch – which in turn gave the game record sales numbers in it's launch window.

Galaxy however did not. 500,000 in it's first week is amazing for a game with no marketing, and most Wii owners not knowing it was releasing then.
You're all right that many Wii owners bought it for Wii Sports, but they will also love to play Mario Galaxy. It's just that those people don't know it's out yet.

Galaxy could very well have long-term sales that reach or surpass Halo 3's.

@RDX
There probably will be Zora Tunic Link, as Sakurai said there will be about 6 different variations for each character, and he only revealed a very small portion of these with the announcement.
