They could have made a better game with the resources they had. This was an opportunity to do away with the trinity system and repetitive combat of other MMORPGs, but they refused to innovate in the one area where it matters most. I'm not a hater - I really wanted to like SWTOR - but it just seems like a waste of potential.
$1180 is a lot more than 200% the cost of the game. It is terrible that they'd bully people who can't afford games, and as great as The Witcher 2 was I kind of wish I hadn't supported a company that would do that.
When I was playing SWTOR I had a tendency to hoard orange (moddable) gear because most of the high-level gear looks much worse than what the lowbies get.
I don't think Diablo III will be a dud, as most people still seem to think that Blizzard can do no wrong. I won't be buying it, but most gamers will buy whatever Activision tells them to.
Blizzard isn't a real company anymore, it's just a cog in the Activision machine. Both Torchlight II and Guild Wars 2 are being made by former Blizzard employees who worked on Diablo II, so I see them as being a true continuation of the series' legacy
I hope that if they do make Mass Effect Online, they keep the action-RPG gameplay of the series instead of having players stand in one place pressing buttons. SWTOR had so much potential, but the boring gameplay made me lose interest fast.
So not only do people spend real money on virtual items, but they don't even know what those items will be? How could anyone think this is a good idea?
Three of my friends and I started playing as a group after reaching Coruscant in SWTOR, and it worked pretty well for about a day. Then everyone's work and school responsibilities caught up with them, so we couldn't play together all the time, and no one else was willing to play alts when the whole group couldn't be together, so we ended up being completely different levels.
I really hope I can convince these people to play Guild Wars 2, it seems like the mentor/sidekick system might solve this problem.
