These DSiWare games can't be transferred to 3DS
Jun 2nd 2011 1:06PM (Joystiq)As long as you don't try to play PS2 games on your PS3 you are fine. That was one of the reasons I didn't go for the PS3 (x360 has the same issue). I'm hoping Nintendo doesn't have the same issue going to the next home console.
As much as I enjoy the downloadable games, it's clear from the system stats that I spend WAY more retail titles.
My most-played WiiWare/VC title comes in at just 10 hours, making it not show up in the top 50 Wii titles I've played. I love my 10 DSiWare games in theory, but mostly I play the retail carts.
Conduit 2 review: More like Con-don't-do-it 2
May 3rd 2011 7:20PM (Joystiq)I had not intention of getting Conduit 2 and still don't.
... but I do now have the intention of reading Joystiq less.
It's reviews like these that keep video gaming as an entertainment form for adolescents.
Please Joystiq, try reviewing the game again in a more intelligent manner. This review may have been funny, but it wasn't smart or particularly useful (or accurate based on many of the posts here). It made me disappointed in myself for reading a website that would post such a thing.
Wii Sports Resort, Wii Party drop by $10 on April 25
Apr 18th 2011 4:47PM (Joystiq)Also loving it. We just started doing the pictured wave race like event though we've owned the game since release. There is so much content. My favorite, and by far most played, is Disc golf. I'm also a big fan of the Cycling (which no-one else I've talked to enjoyed).
Dang, dang good game. Many, many hours of fun.
Dragon Quest X almost done, announcement 'by the end of this year'

Reggie articulates what's compelling about Nintendo's 3DS launch games
Jan 26th 2011 12:51PM (Joystiq)People are so impossible to please.
I would state that I am also hard to please and somewhat disappointed by the launch line-up, which to me feels too full of shooters and X360/PS3 games alongside stripped down (Madden I'm looking at you) versions that feel like features were left out so that there was something to tout next year.
Pilotwings Resort looks interesting, but I don't expect I'll be getting anything else from the "launch" lineup unless the reviewers are really surprised by something.
RedLynx's MotoHeroz has music from Alan Wake composer, hear it in this trailer
Jan 18th 2011 2:43PM (Joystiq)(shouldn't have trusted the Dilbert site embed to give me good code ;)

Jan 18th 2011 2:40PM (Joystiq)That fanboys refuse to buy a good game b/c it is on the Wii certainly would lead you to believe WiiWare sales are low. (though I just can't wrap my head around that...it's totally beyond me!)
I have no idea WHAT principle makes you refuse to buy a great game b/c of the console. Seriously! Especially when it is on a console you own!
Though as Dogbert reminds us, you could be way ahead of us in principle...

Curve Studios director spills about Fluidity's inspirations, origins
Dec 21st 2010 12:58PM (Joystiq)...sad that WiiWare is so under-used and known today that most gamers won't get a chance to play this (or I guess more accurately stated most gamers won't take the opportunity)
Xbox Live stats: 'About half' of subscribers pay for Gold, 3 hours daily average
Dec 2nd 2010 3:07PM (Joystiq)Which honestly is sad.
Seems like billions of hours spent on meaningless entertainment.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for meaningless entertainment...in reasonable doses.
3 hours a day on average!?
Really?
Get a job, go outside, play with the earth, learn an instrument or a foreign language (or your native language!). Write a story, take pictures, form a garage band. Try to figure out foreign relations and policy, read books, learn to program...just be somehow constructive!
3 hours a few times a week seems more reasonable as blow-off time. I can't help but wonder at the lives of the people who spend nearly 20% of their waking hours playing (if they are an adult with a job it's something like 70% of their non-working/non-sleeping hours - which is pathetic any way you slice it). This is an average, which means some people are much higher of course, but even at the average, the image of someone sitting playing games all the time seems rather accurate.
As someone who makes games for a living I find it sad (at least based on the majority of games we have today...few of them deserve this kind of attention away from life).
Super Meat Boy won't make Nov. on Wiiware, PC still on track
Nov 1st 2010 1:07PM (Joystiq)...it's never going to be released on WiiWare.
