Wreckateer smashing up XBLA this spring, and it's totally your fault
Mar 5th 2012 1:05PM (Joystiq)Everyone who has an Xbox 360 has a controller. The Kinect is a $100+ addon.
What was that about barrier of entry?
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City adds 'Nemesis Mode' DLC exclusively for Xbox 360
Mar 5th 2012 11:18AM (Joystiq)The cost isn't really the issue here. It's the fact that Capcom got paid for this, and then has the gall to charge for it on top of that.
When this comes to other platforms, fine, charge there. Hell, even charge after the deal expires, I don't care.
But as others have said, day one, exclusive, co-marketed funded DLC should not cost a penny. Just look to the same damn company and their exclusive characters for SFxT on the PS3. That's how it should be done, and it is mind-boggling that they're able to get away with it here.
I'd also argue that any charge made for DLC isn't nominal due to people having to top up their balances if they don't have enough, with 400 points being the minimum (500 still here in EU.) And you can't make value judgements of people who determine that 320 points is nominal or not. You just can't.
Wreckateer smashing up XBLA this spring, and it's totally your fault
Mar 5th 2012 11:14AM (Joystiq)Don't get me wrong, I have a Kinect with a large number of titles, and I like it. But there is no god damned reason why this needs to be Kinect only. This would work perfectly well with just a controller.
Kinect should be for experiences that could only be done or could only be done well using that tech. This is not one of those times.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City adds 'Nemesis Mode' DLC exclusively for Xbox 360
Mar 5th 2012 10:44AM (Joystiq)Hooray!
On a cynical side note, this is Capcom having their cake and indeed eating it too. In that they're clearly getting cash from Microsoft for this "exclusive" and then charging users a not-so-nominal fee. This is the worst possible outcome for the phenomenon of co-marketing cash. And I don't like it.
Report: Hydrophobia studio facing closure
Feb 28th 2012 2:05PM (Joystiq)Their updates to Hydrophobia made it an above-average game IMO, and their attempts to engage players of the PC version directly via an in-game reporting system should be applauded, but I guess first impressions really are everything in this industry.
Fez hits XBLA on May 2 [Update: Nope!]

Feb 26th 2012 12:18PM (Joystiq)What is so special about this game?
I've been following it for a bit. I do think it looks gorgeous and I really like the pixellated art style. The plane transitions look amazing too and I have no doubt that this is one of the top-tier "art" (for lack of a better term) games of this year.
But so what? The gameplay itself looks like a fairly derivative exploratory platformer. Maybe it has an amazing story that I just haven't seen anywhere, or that a facet of the gameplay hasn't been shown off that would make this a more interesting game. I don't know.
What is it that I'm missing here? Is it just the case that this isn't a game for me?
