I literally just turned to my boss, showed him this, and said "I'm going to need a week off in october.
I'm hoping it actually starts late in the Seven Years (French and Indian) War, at the Battle of Quebec, which would make a fantastic setting for the parkour stuff.
I do hope they get to the major colonial cities of Philadelphia, Boston, and Williamsburg, as well as a frontier fort like Ticonderoga or Niagara. I have to question though, how they will make the dynamics of the game work in a world where few buildings were more than 50 feet tall.
One Idea that needs to happen is mobile apps that interact with the game world.
It would be great to have mobile access to in game messaging and markets, or other more game specific tasks like skill training in EVE, or duty officers in STO.
It always seemed to me like EVE was only courting the people who are are both hardcore mmorpg players, and hardcore into the guild/corp scene. There are few options for loners, and while that might fit the story of the EVE universe, it detracts from it being a fun game.
I enjoy the environment, but as someone who might go days between gaming sessions, it was always frustrating to me that the game is fairly forgiving in skill training, but you can't keep up financially without playing for hours a day. I'm not sure how they can make the game better for someone who only plays for a few hours, once a week, but that's what I'd need. Maybe if there were some sort of a "simulator" that let players try more advanced ships with neither financial consequence nor benefit could help me see what I can look forward to.
One thing I think would help would be apps that can interact directly with the game. A phone app that provides access to the non-spaceflight parts of the game, like training, markets, and comms. Evemon was a nice tool when I played, but I wanted it to be able to keep my training queue full. I imagine hardcore players would love to access their trades on their lunchbreak, to catch the highs and lows of the market. It seems like corps use jabber or other chat outside the game to bring people to the game, wouldn't it be great to get a notification on your phone and have instant access to information from the game to know if you should run to your computer?
@AnOldGoat I know, it's more the frustration of wasting the training buffs in the first few weeks, because I wasn't able to log in to refill that queue. After a while, most skills take days anyway.
I really wanted to like EVE. it's a great concept, a beautiful game. But I've never made it more than 2 months, because after the tutorials you're just floating in space with no direction. Also, both times I've tried to start up, I've run out of post tutorial missions quickly, for reasons that were not apparent, basically there were no agents that would talk to me.
It probably doesn't help that I usually only have a couple times a month where I can play for more than an hour. While EVE's offline skill progression lessens the impact of that, there were still many training hours lost because i hadn't had a chance to log in in days. It would be fantastic if they had more of a queue for skill training, or app/website to update it without launching the full game.
I'm torn... I already have a 360, but it's an older 8gb pre-hdmi model.
So getting this would net me: 250 GB hardrive ( > $100 as upgrade) N Wireless ($50 as upgrade) Controller ($35) Halo 3 ($20) Fable 2 ($20) $75 ($75)
So roughly $300 worth of stuff, and I can sell or repurpose my previous 360. Still, I'd rather spend $300 on the PS3 Uncharted bundle, I kept missing the sales for before xmas.

The Perfect Ten: Clever ideas
Feb 24th 2012 9:41AM (Massively)I wasn't aware any mobile apps went both ways. I thought they just let you view things, but not make purchases or send messages
EVE has a great API, EVEMon for example is pretty awesome, but I'm pretty sure it's one way only.
