I'm actually very impressed. What's more is that the Japanese eShop is hosting a demo of this game. A Demo?! Let's hope it's a sign of things to come. :)
@Shockwave Why is it a horrible business decision? The Wii had 3 optional control schemes at launch, and they were all around the same price.
This isn't a horrible idea, it's just another option for those who prefer the 2 stick method. I, for one, do not plan on making this purchase unless I find out that a game's game play is significantly enhanced with it. That, or Goldeneye comes out for it.
This will be as mandatory as the classic controller. Do we not understand this?
Remember when Monster Hunter Tri came out, and Nintendo released the Classic Controller Pro? This is no different. There's a reason this story is running along side a Monster Hunter 3 G story. The game is more than likely going to ship with one of these boats. Are you going to ever use it outside of Monster Hunter? Maybe, but you can bet it's not going to be forced on you.
Nintendo have been in business a long time, and they've had their fair share of flops. The 3DS isn't going anywhere; There isn't going to be a dramatic redesign to close to a price drop. It's bad business, and I'm sure that Nintendo see that too.
If you don't want that attachment, by all means, don't buy it!
Nintendo aren't as scared of the Vita, and vice versa, as you might think. The Vita is going to have a hard time too, I'm sure.

@iceytoa1 Battlefield: Bad Company 2 had 24 player limit on consoles, and I don't remember that game being a disappointment. :) I'm sure you, and everyone else, will be just fine.

2. No, it's not required. The article wasn't clear about this, but those games support the attachment, but do not require it.
