Dragon Quest X is an online RPG, still for Wii [update: also Wii U!]

Sep 5th 2011 11:26AM (Joystiq)
I have mixed feelings about this. If the online component of this game was as refreshing as IX's was, maybe I'll hop off the fence to the side where the grass is greener.

For now, though, it's looking pretty brown on this other side...Square Enix isn't really known for focusing on one game at a time and sometimes that comes back to bite them in the butt.

Dead Island review: In need of brains

I didn't really understand the hype behind this game at all to begin with.

But maybe that's because the whole "zombie" genre is dead to me anyway. (Heyooo.)

Square Enix responds to Deus Ex racial controversy

People are all up in arms over Letitia because (s)he talks this way, but no one's throwing any fits about Jenny?

People make me laugh, haha.

The truth is, there are people (most commonly black women) who talk like Letitia (and have names like 'Letitia') and there are black women who talk like Jenny (as in, soft spoken and professional) (and have names like Jenny).

Just because Square Enix pointed it out doesn't make them a bad company. People just need to get their heads out of their butts and maybe they'll find that there are actually people like this.

If they didn't want a stereotype like this portrayed, maybe people should ACT in a manner that perpetuates it.

Kirby: Mass Attack minigames feature minis, games

Sep 4th 2011 9:23PM (Joystiq)
@LionheartAce It references the games main story element, where you can control up to ten of Kirby at a time. It's a Mass of Kirby, see?

The minigames are just something extra. I'm sure they tie into the main game somehow, but even if they didn't, they're nice little breaks from the storyline (unless of course, they're part of the storyline).

Borderlands 2 leaked gameplay video is 14 minutes of amazing midget-massacre

What I'm really in love with are all the little touches. The new fonts are more almost comic-like in nature which adds a nifty feel to things like cutscenes, the hexagons flashing when your shield is hit (as opposed to just the red line you get if hit without a shield like in the first game) and the hexagon burst when your shield is depleted ate just the kinds of attention-to-detail changes that excite me. Even the minimap, too.

Because if they can pay attention to and change little tiny things like that, imagine what all will change on the grander scale of things!

Homemade PIP-Boy 3000 does (almost) everything

Sep 4th 2011 1:27PM (Joystiq)
That's pretty sweet~!

If only he'd made the part that goes around your wrist bigger--then he could have placed a smooth surface (something more durable than plastic) over the wires so that they'd be hidden and the Pip-Boy could just slide on.

Oh well! I'm sure he'll think of a way to fix that problem!

Dead Island iOS app tells you what you're doing in Dead Island on a smaller screen

It's like Windwaker's Minimap when you connect a GBA to a Gamecube.
May that little purple lunchbox rest in peace.

An interesting concept, though, I don't think it'll take off too quickly if implemented like this. Something like this shouldn't really cost something, especially if you can do just fine without it.
