About time! An excellent game that should be very playable on a tablet. In a broader sense, BG is a great example of the type of game that could turn tablets into more serious game machines. Touch screens can't compete with joysticks and buttons when it comes to twitch-reflex games, but there's no reason deep RPG's, strategy games, and slower-paced tactical action games can't thrive on tablets.
@Skai I'm a male, but I'm more attached to my sexual orientation (I like females) than gender. So, I have no problem playing a female character, as long as I can assume she's a lesbian. That way she's just me with t*ts.
@kalipou134 I remember when pvp basically killed online Diablo due to the constant griefing. Gamers have short memories, I guess. It's not an easy feature to do right, and personally I'd rather they cut it and ship.
@soorma Good point. In fact, casual games are good for core games. Sales of mass-market games make money for Sony and encourage it to support the Vita, and it encourages developers to take the Vita market seriously, whether they make casual or deep games.
For example, think of Steel Batallion on the original Xbox - the crazy mech game with the giant controller. A hardcore niche game, to be sure, but it would never have been made if there weren't millions of Halo players out there to be the potential market.
@EndynOmni Different platforms, different markets. They know that owners of dedicated consoles are willing to spend more money for their games. Phone gamers are more frugal. I remember laughing over a user review for some iOS game, it went something like, "good graphics and gameplay, finished in six hours, not worth the $2."
Might be a lesson there for us. They can only overcharge if we're willing to overspend...
@FuzzyPierce Almost every great creative work is iterative. Nobody writes a great story or piece of music in one try. Even if the first try is really good, a few cycles of refinement almost always makes it better, and it doesn't diminish the talent of the creator to get external feedback.
@DaDiddles There are some very good games on iOS, most casual but some core. The lack of buttons is obviously a big downside, but it doesn't make good games impossible. The FPS games on iOS have the best controls of any portable FPS (though the Vita may finally change that), there's games like Infinity Blade that are designed around touch, touch controls are better for strategy games and some menu-heavy games, and virtual joysticks are at least adequate in most other cases, though obviously not ideal.
I doubt a touch screen device can be a replacement for a dedicated game machine for most of us, but it really does have a lot of capability.
@Joshua Przygocki True. It's also instructive to note that his worth is in the value of his business. People like to complain about the rich like they hoard a big pile of cash, and sometimes spend it on expensive booze and sports cars. The vast, vast majority of their net worth is invested in some kind of enterprise, making money, allowing jobs to exist, etc.
@darkinchworm True. On the other hand, if the GOAL is to be 'dark' and 'controversial,' it may well have ended up being forced and dumb. Though the trailer looked interesting, the 'moral dilemna' seemed contrived - 'the only possible way to save fifty people is to shove this one person off the bridge!' shove boom. 'Wow, just in time!'
Would have been more interesting if it were shove splash (no boom). 'Um, boss, are you sure that was necessary?'
Put your right hand in, put your right hand out, do the Steel Battalion
