Cheese and rice, we're not necessarily talking decimals here. Software versions commonly work like this: MAJOR.MINOR. Each number can just keep increasing. So each time you release you go 0.1, 0.2, ..., 0.9, 0.10, 0.11, etc. So 0.2 is an earlier release than 0.11

If you're assuming that v1.0 is the launch version, the current version 0.98 doesn't necessarily mean we're close to launch. They could go 0.99, 0.100, 0.101, etc. before bumping to 1.0.

I'm planning on getting a PS3 and GTA, but the timing is just coincidental, it's mostly due to finally buying an HDTV; I would have bought the PS3 anyway for the blu-ray player in addition to the games.
