Xperia Play ad rags on iPhone gaming
Mar 23rd 2011 8:51AM (TUAW.com)People, it was funny 3 years ago, but it's lasted and has stayed relevant longer than ANY non-Nintendo made hand held gaming system IN HISTORY. The PSP is consistently in the top sales brackets for NPD in both Japan and UK, and 67 Million isn't "nobody". No, it's not as much as the DS, but under that logic, Nobody buys an iPhone compared to Nokia Dumbphones, or Nobody buys Macs... and if that was true, then this site wouldn't exist.
That being said, I looked pretty hard and the phone Kinda looks like an iPhone, but could really be any black touch screen only touch phone. Including a Nexus S.

Mar 12th 2011 8:46PM (TUAW.com)If you have an iOS Device, FaceTime is superior in almost every way. There is next to no setup, the person doesn't have to join the network and get a screen name. It uses you Phone number or email address. The video quality is better and cleaner and has less annoying sound effects.
Right now we have 3 major solutions for Video Calling, FaceTime, Google Talk, and Skype.
Skype was the first to do it right, but the company is run by morons. The iOS clients are slow to upgrade, stability is questionable, and the app itself is a Battery hog. They also should not be signing exclusivitivy agreements with Carriers, so It's only on iOS, Mac and PC, no Android version yet. Skype, COULD step their game up and make the biggest impact the fastest, but they won't.
FaceTime has alot of things right, as far as making the video call process as intuitive as making a voice call. But, being owned by Apple, Apple is in it for Apple's own growth, so it's only on Apple platforms. So No PC or Android versions.
Google Talk is a nice alternative to Skype, and available for PC, Mac, and Android 3.0 and ChromeOS (Video enabled versions). Seeing as there is a non video enabled client for almost every platform, Google COULD put the video ability into them, and it could be the prime utility as it would be first to multi-platform. Out of the 3, I see this as doing MP First, as Google seems more intrested in getting tech out there and used than keeping their stuff to their platforms.

Mar 8th 2011 7:00PM (TUAW.com)Study finds AT&T iPhone downloads twice as fast as Verizon's
Mar 7th 2011 6:06PM (TUAW.com)I got the VZW iPhone, and couldn't be happier. I did not like AT&T... I always said I'd get an iPhone if it wasn't on AT&T, and I did. Never needed Simultanious data and voice on 3G, and while the Data isn't as fast.. it's still damn fast. If We were stuck on EDGE speeds, then I'd be all "Grrr" and stuff.. but, We averaged 1.5 Mbit, and that's good.
MacBook Pro updated: Faster CPUs, Radeon HD, Thunderbolt, and more
Feb 28th 2011 8:16PM (TUAW.com)For one though, I'm glad the resolution isn't any higher on the 13inch MBP. Not everyone has 20/10 vision, and it would suck for everything to be that super tiny on screen.
Apple outlines differences between CDMA and GSM phones
Feb 16th 2011 10:05PM (TUAW.com)Yeah I can't do data while on a call.. and rudely ignore the person I'm talking to because I'm poking at the internet.. and I can't do 2 calls (Which I will admit is a useful feature) But.. to not have to deal with AT&T, it's worth it.
Verizon discontinues 'New Every Two' policy in the wake of the iPhone
Jan 17th 2011 7:27AM (TUAW.com)Secondly, does this mean that.. If you sign a 2 year contract.. and after 2 years, you want any new phone, you will be expected to pay Full price for any and all phones?
iPhone 3G excluded from AirPlay support
Nov 12th 2010 5:50PM (TUAW.com)THe reason Apple probabbly still supports the iPhone 3G is because they were still selling them as of May of this year.
