Taito's RayForce hits iOS for ... more than you'd expect

@TCJJ

I meant buttonless smartphone, rather than iOS. No rage, no attack.

These older shmups are bit more difficult and alien feeling, than Angry Birds or Fruit Ninja. Most people are not going to bother with them as they don't feel rewarded by them, they feel very frustrated instead. If Cave and other shmup developers drop their prices to Angry Birds range, how is that going to keep their business alive? They have to develop a lot easier shmups, then they start losing the hardcore fans and it's not guaranteed the games sell. It's risky. Well Cave is already heading to greener pastures in social gaming, so not the best example to use.

Could 1$ Cave/Taito/whatever shmup have taken Angry Bird's place? No chance. Angry Bird is extreme example though, it was right game, in right place, at right time.

Taito's RayForce hits iOS for ... more than you'd expect

Niche games, premium prices. There's no shooter appreciation here, clearly. People who are into these games pay easily that amount. iOS sucks though.

PSP Go is actually amazing if you have CFW on it, and make backups of your UMD's with second PSP that has an UMD drive. It is actually portable size, has best screen and you can plug it into TV and control with a bluetooth controller, like Dualshock 3, and it has integrated 16GB memory. PSN games also transfer over to Vita, as far as I know. PSP Go buyers weren't so dumb after all.

Even without backups, the Go could have been great if PSN had all games.

PS3 / Vita RPG 'Ruin' now called 'Warrior's Lair'

Anyone have an idea how Heroes of Ruin might compare to this?

Mojang working on three new games, two of which will be announced before Q3

Seems unprofessional to do bit this and that right after you get some money. They're really going harm themselves if they release too niche game next. Scrolls sounds a bit niche, card games definitely don't have mainstream appeal. Multiple games also mean less media attention for some of the games. Some sort of focus would good idea, but perhaps this unorthodox way of going about things works for company like Mojang.

It's "Häkkinen", for what it's worth.

Alongside with the low-ish battery life, overlooked screen scratching issue and top games being mainly remakes makes 3DS such a mess... most definitely waiting for revision.

Editorial: I love Super Crate Box and I hate virtual buttons

Shouldn't be too difficult for future smartphones to have control attachments, which could also have gyrometer and stuff like that. Like place the phone horizontally in a casing which has buttons at left and right side and plugs into some port. There was something on Joystiq about Microsoft patenting interchangeable controls. Any of these solutions could fairly easily kill portable console market, unless Nintendo stays one step ahead, not with the 3DS at least, and so far with online stuff they've been few steps behind.

I don't know whether this is sad or funny, or both.
