NintendoWare Weekly: Catrap, 101-in-1

Oct 14th 2011 3:51PM (Joystiq)
I had this game on a counterfeit 100-in-1 GBC cartridge! I was seriously addicted to this, played through countless levels

I played so many games in that cartridge, all of them had weird names so I don't know whats their name, but it was surely fun to play them.

Battlefield 3 will employ Online Pass, required for multiplayer

Oct 14th 2011 3:43PM (Joystiq)
Kertz explained the reasoning behind Online Pass to another fan, writing, "Because servers cost money, and used games don't make developers any money."

The server thing is the biggest fallacy I've seen related to Online Pass thing.
I mean, servers cost money, yeah, BUT, when I sell my game, I'm unable to keep using it, so I'm no longer part of the users consuming server load, the guy who bought my game now uses it and consumes server load, the part of the server load I paid for originally.

French court bans DS 'game copier' devices

Oct 4th 2011 6:28AM (Joystiq)
Nintendo is asking for more of these devices to circulate, after locking their devices to zones... zone locking is a thing of the 2000s, and it was for DVDs, its sort of ridiculous to see it in a handheld. I do not aprove piracy, but there is times when you can't play a game because Nintendo doesn't wants your American DS to play a Japanese game. Also, homebrew is a nice thing these flashcarts offer. I have this drawing application which I have used insanely to draw stuff in my DS Lite with the stylus, and some emulators for example GBC (Those sweet Zelda games, Oracle of Seasons/Ages are the last ones I played, games I can't sadly play on the DS due to no official GBC support, and because I don't own anymore a GBC, the only way to play is the emulator (though I still keep many GBC games as a memory I cherish from childhood)) and so on I can give you a lot of reasons to use a flashcart!

Patent points to possible Kinect-based parental controls

Oct 3rd 2011 10:47PM (Joystiq)
Assuming someone's age out of the blue would be the wrong way to do it because different body sizes and constitutions. The real way to do it would be having the kinect scan your whole family, and keeping some sort of metrics corresponding to each person, then instantly knowing who is the family member in front of the screen and applying filters accordingly
