ff13 was bad. as a game in general it was serviceable, as a numbered sequel, it's a joke.
best example, in ff7 you got the golden saucer, an expansive theme park environment that was fleshed out and enjoyable on its own and still worked its way into the story of the game effectively. in ff13 you get to nautilus thinking, hey cool, i wonder if there's a snowboarding minigame. NOPE CHASE A BIRD AROUND AND THEN LEAVE BYE.
i even enjoyed the combat to an extent, but there was so, so much kludge dragging it down.
