Life lesson - if you're going to be an example of GIFT at least make sure that the dude isn't someone who knows where you live.

Worlds.com aims to sue over the virtual world of Warcraft

Mar 12th 2009 2:08AM (WoW)
The patent is for an invention that is not novel (lots of prior art) and not nonobvious (MUD + graphics = his patent).

He's going to lose and the patent is going to be invalidated

Wintergrasp retuning incoming

As long as the best path to victory is blow up wall #1, blow up wall #2, blow up keep door, the offense will never split up. What good is it to preserve 10 minutes of your clock when it takes 5 minutes to blow up 2 walls and the keep door?

The Glider outcome and copyright law

Feb 4th 2009 7:21PM (WoW)
Blizz suing you for damages over a name? The best they could win is forcing you to change your name. If you're talking about monetary damages, you only get those if you can show harm. For example by selling a bot that ruins that integrity of the game, thus causing some other people to quit and stop paying Blizz their subscription dollars.

In practical terms, since violation of ToS and helping other people violate ToS are already illegal under contract law, there is very little real impact except to the scholarship of copyright law, because in the real world, software devs will still win under contract law.

TalentChic updates for Wrath

51/13/7 is the most obvious dps build if you don't bother reading though theorycrafting sites. In fact even among DW DKs, in my experience very few are 32/39.

Jacksonville Jaguars' Official Web Site Rips Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning

Maybe there's just an expectation that the NFL MVP will be able to light up the #31 ranked pass defense (by yards) for more than 1TD when the defense isn't paying attention? Or maybe people don't see how you can blame a defense that held the Bolt's O to 10 points under their season average?

Ghostcrawler's tips on Loken

Dec 16th 2008 3:16PM (WoW)
In my experience, a lot of people try to make clever plans for simple fights, maybe because they can't do the same simple thing over and over again for 3 minutes without losing focus. I'm sure that the Occulus boss would be the winner over Loken if falling off your drake and splattering/zoning out counted as a Laykeeper kill.

Forum post of the day: A Rogue without a cause

Need rogues for the same reason you need any single target DPS specialist - to kill the bosses faster.

Blizzard awarded $6 million in Glider suit

Oct 2nd 2008 3:05AM (Joystiq)
Just to clarify, Blizzard makes a contract with every user of WoW. Part of that contract says you can't bot. Glider openly markets itself as a way for people to break the contract, in a way that harms Blizz. This is called "Tortuous interference with contract" and the concept has been a part of our laws since before the Declaration of Independence. Since Blizz was able to showcase what must have been a million+ complaints about bots and a record of people quitting because of the existance of bots, this was pretty much a slam dunk for Blizz on that claim.

For the rest you should just read the opinion.
