Epic and Adobe announce Unreal Engine 3 support for Flash 11
Oct 4th 2011 4:06PM (Joystiq)Those are the best examples you have? Angry Birds is extremely simple technically. Doesn't scratch the surface of Flash's capabilities. And ro.me? Really? Only works in Chrome? And eats so much CPU on my 2010 MBP that the framerate drags to a halt? Is this the 90s where stuff only works in one browser? C'mon, that is not progress. Oct 4th 2011 3:53PM (Joystiq)You're obviously not a developer. We build in both Flash and HTML, and recently HTML5. We've done a few HTML5 pieces for clients that demand it and have found that the HTML5 pieces eat as much or MORE CPU than the Flash versions, and render different in each of the 3 major browsers (latest versions), where the Flash version is completely consistent. Yes, we're using the latest versions of JQuery and all the best hacks/shims/polyfills that are available. We're talking projects that were possible in Flash 6-7 years ago.
HTML5 simply is not suitable for 90% of what Flash can do right. Sure, for the most basic 10%, have at it.
