Maybe the 3ds, despite selling extremely well, has not reached the install base for nintendo to release an exclusive pokemon title.
plus, 3ds can play ds games anyway. and currently buying a 3ds is obviously a better deal than buying a ds if people does not own either but wants to play pokemon. So it will push 3ds hardware sells as well.
and... this is b/w 2 so we can expect a brand new pokemon is in development for the 3ds, probly for next year. This year they have MH4 and so many other things to push on the 3ds.
Just fyi, availability is not a problem. Vitas are in stock on amazon.jp.
The sales are not really surprising. The games Japanese care about are all on the 3DS boat: Mario, Mario Kart, MH3G... And possibly a DQ in the future. Just can't see why people would want to buy this pricy ($350 with the almost mandatory memory card) home console wannabe. That lineup (including those announced for release next year) is awful with most of them just watered down home console games...
What's worse for sony, nintendo still has lots of unreleased system sellers like MH4, animal crossing and an unannounced POKEMON .... god... have mercy...
yeah. pretty cheap for TES music which is great. Many Japanese games' soundtracks are like $20 for 1cd. Probably because American people do not care about collecting game soundtracks.. They should put this in the collector's edition though. I don't really need that dragon thing...
There are mario land, mario kart, monster hunter tri-g, gundam generations, kunio kun, inazuma 11 and... love plus on the 3ds for Japan in the next two months. So it's partly true. Especially given how big tri-g is.
For Americans? Dudes will be too busy playing mw3 and halo to buy handheld games anyway...
Nintendo will never do soft only period. Don't forget at its heart, it is still a toy maker. Their philosophy is just different from corporations like sony and ms. Their core franchises serve one general purpose: to support selling nintendo's console in the competition.
If they can no longer make money in the console business, they will just quit completely. Which, given the brand name and the amount of cash they have, is unlikely to happen in at least 15 years.
