Wonder Boy, Fantasy Zone coming to North American VC

Mar 25th 2008 6:51PM (Joystiq)
If anyone is really that interested in some of the more arcade style Master System games, you should check out this Plug and Play unit:

http://playpalworld.com/plug_play.html

It's usually listed for about $20 online, but I got mine in a Real Canadian Superstore in Canada for I believe $6.98

Some of them list different games, but mine came with:

Sonic Blast
Sonic Chaos
Sonic Drift 2
Sonic Spinball
Sonic Triple Trouble
Alex Kidd in High Tech World
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Alex Kidd The Lost Stars
Altered Beast
Astro Warrior
Bomber Raid
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Ecco the Tides of Time
Fantasy Zone
Golden Axe
Penguin Land
Psycho Fox
Quartet
Ristar
Super Columns

Note that some of the games like Ristar are actually Game Gear versions of the game.

The unit is not that great to play with, but its definitely better priced than these virtual console games, and it's funky-looking enough to appeal to even modest Sega fanboys like myself.

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup: criminal comic edition

My vote goes to the best Penny Arcade of the week, instead of the worst:

Do you guys always pick the worst PA comics on purpose? It would make sense in that whole "but they're too good" sort of logic.

The Sims coming to the big screen, logic be damned!

You guys are describing an old Penny Arcade comic...

How the DS does 3D graphics

Mar 28th 2007 3:54PM (Joystiq)
@2:

I've played Sonic Rush through over and over and over... with both characters. That's like SIX 'OVERS'!

Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble is also a great DS game, although it can be beaten fairly quickly.

Also, Pac N' Roll seems to be everywhere for practically nothing, and I quite enjoyed that game.

Paperboy wrecking the XBLA neighborhood this Wednesday

Farseer - What the hell?

I cooked at a restaurant and worked way harder than the f*cking servers. We didn't even have a tip jar for the kitchen staff, and the waitresses would walk away with double our wages in tips. If waiting tables is the hardest thing you've ever done for money, you're pretty freakin' lucky.

...and NOBODY deserves a 20% or whatever cut of a meal for bringing said food from point a to point b.

Conan takes on Serena in Wii Tennis

Feb 2nd 2007 2:38PM (Joystiq)
As somebody on the Youtube comments already mentioned, the reason Serena lost was because she underestimated Wii sports. She never once tried making a backhanded swing, so it's no wonder her swings weren't registering on time.

Today's hottest game video: Diddy Kong Racing

Jan 27th 2007 12:52AM (Joystiq)
Yeah, this is a Rare game idiot. Also, one of the most fun racing games I've ever played. I don't care if I've already payed for it once. This game DESERVES to be played again by a new audience on the DS. The gameplay of the original still holds up and I don't see any other flight racing games on the DS that could fill the same void this game will. I used to love just cruising around the island and taking the "hidden" shortcuts.

I still sometimes find myself quoting Taj from this game ("THIS is for YOU!"), with people totally not getting the reference. Diddy Kong Racing > Mario Kart 64.

Nintendo sells 600K Wiis at launch, 454K Zeldas

Nov 27th 2006 9:23PM (Joystiq)
What are you guys talking about? Zelda sold huge for the number of consoles. You also forget that the Wii already came with a game.
