This announcement has nothing to do with the stock delisting warning notice they received. This totally isn't a bid for attention so their stock can hopefully stabilize.
I can arbitrarily say I'd probably buy more stuff off XBL without the convoluted 'points' system. I resist buying things off XBL because the point system just seems like a racket where MS will always have a little extra money out of your pocket, when you have these awkward chunks of points left behind that you can't spend unless you buy MORE points.
On a Jedi Sentinel focusing on earning dark side points, I build an 'emotional engagement' in SWTOR by choosing goody-goody conversation options to keep my companions happy, until a choice contributes the points I need. Then we're flushing orphanages out of airlocks.
I expect Richard Garriott to show up at the stock exchange wearing a cheerleader shirt with the Zynga logo, proclaiming how Zynga's going to destroy all MMO's, and bring down console gaming. And, that he's looking for investors to support him to develop UO2.
