Gamestop sells porn-packed used MemoryStick

Dec 9th 2006 4:26PM (Joystiq)
Also, any of the PSP/Wii memory cards that come into us we have to send back to our factory and supposedly they erase them for us. This is just because they can contain illegal media, whereas we don't erase ps2/gcn/360/xbox memory cards because all they ever have are game saves.

It's funny cause our store is right next to a Walmart and we get all these crack addicts that jack memory cards from Walmart and trade em in to us. You can always tell, cause the memory cards never have any saves, they're in perfect condition, and sometimes even still wrapped :P

We had this one guy come in and try to trade in 3 copies of Final Fantasy 12. Another dude traded in 7 psp memory cards. Another guy tried to trade in 3 ps2 slimslines that were still sealed. Still another guy tried to trade in 5 360 wireless controllers, funny thing about that is they still had the battery compartment sticker on them and we found all the packaging for them out back later lol.

So not everything is in bad condition :P

Gamestop sells porn-packed used MemoryStick

Just to clarify on a few things. At Gamestop employees are allowed to check out merchandise to try it out. We're not supposed to leave save data or anything on there, just so people will be none the wiser. They must have just forgot. So when you're buying a new game from Gamestop/EB, make sure it is still sealed, cause if it's not then it's probably been played by employees before.

That being said I agree with pretty much everyone else here, I don't want my "new" game or accessory to be opened, I want it to still be shrink wrapped. That's why it's "new," because nobody else has opened it or used it, I'm the first one since it left the factory.

The only thing we do to make sure things work are 1) check the game disk to make sure it's not too scratched 2) turn on a system and boot up a game to make sure it works. That's all, we don't check accessory's or memory cards or anything else. So I'd recommend not buying used accessories or systems from us, I know I wouldn't cause I've seen the kind of shite that comes in and we accept. It's just not worth the trouble, I'd rather just spend the extra $10 and get it new and pretty much guaranteed to work. Maybe if it was half the price of new, then I'd consider it, but for now not worth the headache.

They're going to tax WoW gold and loot? What the fuck?

E3's PS3 Motor Storm presentation vs. reality

Dec 3rd 2006 2:33AM (Joystiq)
Hm, was it just me or did Motorstorm just seem really bland? Like the demo was just red/brown, nothing great really. PGR3 to me looked a lot better.

And also, I work at a Gamestop and we have our ps3 kiosk located at the front of the store. When I am working register in the back of the store I can still hear it, that's how loud it is. The system may not be loud, but the fans and whatever else in the kiosk sure is. The kiosk also runs fucking hot as hell. It's overheated a few times as well.

6, I thought that was a requirement for it to be a "Final Fantasy" game...

BBB rates Toys 'R' Us "unsatisfactory" amidst reports of Wii bundling shenanigans

Dec 1st 2006 6:00PM (Joystiq)
19,

Pretty much what I was talking about. Despite what I just posted (to the joy of raging commentors) I do like some of the customers that come in my store. They're not all asshats, just the ones that ask really trivial questions and act like it's my fault when something doesn't quite work out for them. Really, it's not my fault that corporate decided not to ship us any more than 4 Wii's on Black Friday, that's just something some folks just have to learn to deal with.

(If this happens to double post, sorry).

Man lotta people seem to hate me now haha. Well that's ok. I guess I could take it further and continue my ramblings...For example, when little Billy's grandma comes in to our store and starts inquiring on games and which ones her grandson would like, in my mind I'm thinking "Fuck if I know, I don't know what he likes or doesn't like." Yep, pretty much good service is too much to ask when you get paid just over minimum wage :P

Whenever I go somewhere I try to be self-sufficient. I don't bother asking people where to find this or which game between these two is the best because I don't want to be the annoying customer. I just go find what I need and try not to make any one of the worker's lives shittier than they need to be. Maybe you're just expecting too much out of people...

What's with all these "ANALYST SAYS [insert claim]" articles? It's all just some dude speculating on what could happen. Guess what I can speculate too, I predict that we will be taken over by sea otters and tables will be banished! We will forever have to eat off of our tummies!

Well, I just wanted to say that I can't blame the management at TRU for not caring. I work in retail, and guess what, we don't care about the customer. Sure, we have to act like we do or else we'll be fired but really I could give two shits on whether you and your spoiled little brat get X toy. Had to get that off my chest heh. Also, consider that it is Black Friday, and you are at a big retailer. Of course things are going to hecktick and you really just can't blame people for that. I had to work Black Friday, and it's horrible and the management should not be at fault. That's all I wanted to say.

How much is an hour of gaming worth?

Dec 1st 2006 4:32PM (Joystiq)
Length is certainly not a HUGE factor for me, but it is nice to have a grand long adventure to embark upon every now and again. Don't get me wrong Gears of War was great, but it was so short. I was really expecting a long campaign out of that game, and when the credits started rolling after 8 hours of playing it in a single day I was heartbroken.

And now they are talking about having a sequal or many sequals for Gears. That part particularly makes me mad, because honostly I feel like they should have spent more time making this game and incorporated the whole story. Why not just make a lengthy game that includes the whole story for once instead of splitting the game into multiple parts? Oh right, because Microsoft had to have Gears out for this holiday season and this way we'll end up paying for 2, 3, or even 4 games when it should have been one game that I had to pay for.
