The Official 2011 Joystiq 'Post Your Swag' post

Dec 26th 2011 2:32PM (Joystiq)
A clock in the shape of Jedi Master Yoda as a minifigure, five necklaces, Old Spice stuff, Mass Effect (eventually will get Dungeon Defenders and GTA: Vice City), a sweet Mario shirt, and other assorted goodies.

I also got this crocheted hat with a beard and mustache attached to it that makes me look like a terrorist or an Amish man depending on how you see me. I was heavily advised not to wear it out in public....

It smells like... I don't even know. Kinda like something died in it.

Finished up Bastion last night, then started a New Game+. I plan on finishing Portal soon, but this nineteenth test chamber... Hoo boy...

I'll probably play more BIT.TRIP RUNNER and The Binding of Isaac, although they will be more casual. Maybe throw in some Cthulhu Saves the World in there. And Fallout: New Vegas if it will launch.

Any multiplayer affairs will be handled by TF2 and Killing Floor, possibly EverQuest II if it finishes downloading ever. @_@

I wish I wasn't illiterate, maybe I'd know what the question was....

What makes JRPGs worth playing

Dec 9th 2011 9:27PM (Joystiq)
If you've played Radiant Historia this year at all, you know that the JRPGs can still be amazing. Are they out of their prime? I'd say yes, if only because action-RPGs seem to becoming more commonplace (The World Ends with You, the Kingdom Hearts series, Bastion, etc.). I think it also has a lot to do with patience; a lot of people I know just can't stand selecting "Magic" or "Fight." That's probably why action-RPGs are becoming mainstream: they give fast-paced battles, but they still require you the satisfaction that only a JRPG can bring.

Skyrim is 2011's most-played game, according to Raptr
