Why hasn't the 360 joined the F@H fight?
May 13th 2007 10:45AM (Joystiq Xbox)No offense to all those F@H fans out there, but I didn't pay $400 so someone else could borrow my console's power. And I am not going to pay the electricity for it either. I'd rather donate directly to a charity. M$ needs to spend their time increasing the number of 360 features and further polishing the system.

Dec 27th 2006 11:41PM (Joystiq)How is this an achievement? Maybe I am not getting what exactly "full-featured digital distribution title to consoles" means. From what I understand this would mean a game that has all the standard game features and isn't a demo. Wouldn't that mean all of the XBLA and Wii VC titles would fit into that category? They are full featured games, some with both SP and MP, both in 3D and 2D. One even uses the Unreal Engine, for heaven's sake. But those don't count as full feature games?
I just don't see what the big deal is. Sure, it's cool that this game is up their, and I am all for the content, but frankly this isn't the big deal everyone is making it.
@6, I think your tier idea is good. Still keep the tiny 50 mb, then make another step with bigger titles.

Nov 27th 2006 4:47AM (Joystiq)So the FMV is larger than the game size? On my 360, about 5.9GB is roughly a two hour movie in "HD" once downloaded. So RFOM has maybe an hour and a half of pre-rendered HD video(assuming that the 360 content is not the same HD quality)? Is this uncompressed or something? I don't know much about this stuff.
I haven't gotten a PS3 yet, so I am curious, does anyone really think there is 17GB worth of content in that game to justify a blu-ray, or are they just doing it because they could say that? I want to play this game, but am just wondering what those who have played it think.
On an aside, I don't think 2gb of localized content is really using that space for a "gamer's benefit".
I like the idea of having the large amount of space available, but between development costs plus cross-platform development limitations, I don't think it will ever be put to good use. I find the Blu-ray video format offensive personally. I want games, not some crap DVD replacement for exhorbitant prices. $5 DVDs at Wal-mart still suit me just fine! I was very upset with UMDs, as they generally cost MORE than their DVD counterparts. I was burned once; I hope not again.
