Vita 'UMD Passport' won't be offered in US
Feb 7th 2012 5:40PM (Joystiq)Well that seals it then, I'm not buying a PS Vita any time soon. I have too many UMD games that I'm not done with (since they were considerably cheaper than the digital or they are collector's editions). I will finish playing them to my heart's content and perhaps I'll wait for a price drop on the Vita before I consider buying it.
Sony, considering that your new handheld is not doing as well as you had hoped in Japan, you might want to consider implementing favourable programs here in the rest of the world to increase appeal and demand. I'm sure the UMD Passport program would be a more favourable solution for you than an early price drop because of lack of sales.
Sega's home game division posts losses, Mario & Sonic a bright spot
Feb 3rd 2012 11:48AM (Joystiq)Also it would be nice to see the Project Diva games over here since Vocaloid is awesome! It wouldn't be to had to localize since it's just a rhythm game based on Japanese songs. Still glad to see it is doing well.

Feb 1st 2012 11:29PM (Joystiq)Report: Next-gen Xbox to launch October/November 2013 with this GPU
Jan 24th 2012 11:10PM (Joystiq)Nintendo's GPU has been announced, it says it in the article that it will be the R770 which is the chip from the ATI Radeon 4870. I'm very surprised that Microsoft would pick such a low end card for their new system considering they A) already know what chip Nintendo will be using and chose something less powerful (though it does technically support DX11, 3D and multiple monitors) B) They usually try to pick a high-end though often previous generation GPU so that they can still have good performance that will last years down the road but also cut costs compared to the newest GPU crop.
I don't know where Microsoft got their numbers from since Nintendo's console isn't out yet for them to test. It seems more like a goal they would like to achieve or that their games will be heavily reliant on the CPU or RAM/other components. I'm more surprised by Microsoft's specs since they could easily choose to make their new machine much more powerful than Nintendo's. But I agree with you, it does seem that Microsoft is doing this to be very competitive with Nintendo on price (perhaps even launching with a $299 pricetag, which is what I'd imagine the Wii U would launch at).
Report: Next-gen Xbox to launch October/November 2013 with this GPU
Jan 24th 2012 10:58PM (Joystiq)The article says that the Wii U is using the R770, which is the chip in the ATI Radeon 4800 series (namely the 4870) GPU.
The 4870 is more powerful than a 6670 that the Xbox 720 is expected to use.
