Jan 12th 2012 12:36PM (Joystiq)Not really. You can grab the free game and play to your heart's content. There are no walls you have to pay to get around or level caps or anything like that. You can get the game, which includes the Council team, and play as much as you like. It is ad-supported, just so you know, but that's how the "FREE" bit works out. ;)
Of the items you can purchase, they're almost entirely cosmetic - team color changes, taunts, and avatars. You can buy additional Teams to play with. Think of them like little expansion packs. Right now, we've got the Dark Elves available for purchase. New teams have their own unique art and animations, abilities, and so on, but we do a lot of work to balance the teams so that you can't pay to win. It's just about offering up some new and interesting game mechanics for players who want more strategic options.
