Orcs Must Die! 2 announced with co-op, playable at PAX East
Apr 3rd 2012 7:41AM (Joystiq)Me too! Loved OMD to death.
It was fast, frantic and had just the right amount of humour. Plus there was the element of strategy and you just love the combos going ding ding ding! :D
DD was just.... slow... and boring. Cute though.

Humble Indie Bundle 4 adds free soundtracks for every game
Dec 17th 2011 12:53AM (Joystiq)Yeah its depressing that people will pirate even this... but funny when you hear the excuses :D
"My friend Timmy says Jamestown has poor AI... i'm going to pirate it!"
"They're milking the Cave Story franchise! Its like Activision with MW2/3. Pirate this!"
"Ef corporate america and charity! We are the 99%! Lets pirate this!"
"Its too expensive! Pirate!"

Dec 17th 2011 12:30AM (Joystiq)Now I don't need to boot into windows to get a quick gaming fix. Waiting for code to compile has never been so fun!
(yes I know that xkcd comic :P)
4.5 million pirated copies of Witcher 2 out there, according to CD Projekt
Nov 30th 2011 3:36PM (Joystiq)What?
You make it seem that pirating is a "wise" alternative. Heroically bending the rules of the system because the game is too expensive? WTF?
Your very comment has the answer! Too expensive? DON'T BUY IT AT LAUNCH. Simple.
Wait a couple of months. Still too expensive? Wait a little longer for steam sales.
Can't wait? BUY THE EFFING GAME!
I love how pirates keep trying to justify their habits. If you can pay for that frappucino, you can very well pay for a dirt-cheap game.

Nov 30th 2011 3:20PM (Joystiq)Then you run into people like SlyBeast above. All grown up, has a job, can afford to pay for stuff... but still pirating games.
I hate DRM as much as any guy but how else can the industry fight back? Its true the hardcore pirates would never ever pay... but devs are human too. How can they _not_ feel angry when people like SlyBeast just steals their hard work?
I mean, he's probably just a troll but I've seen it all too much. People would rather steal because its easy. Slap DRM on it and voila, its that much harder.
Waaaaait.... why am I starting to argue _for_ DRM?! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Nov 30th 2011 2:58PM (Joystiq)I agree companies like Ubisoft really have no clue how to make a good PC game (when there are blinding examples biting them in the aas).
But pirates are not helping. They cause companies to slap DRM on their games, which impacts me (and other legit gamers) negatively.
@ SlyBeast
Lol... and you're a troll

Nov 30th 2011 2:41PM (Joystiq)Also, notice how its on the PS3... developers constantly bitch about the super different hardware on PC.
What's Bethesda's excuse here?
"Oh my gawd, Becky! The different TVs connected to all the different colored PS3 are causing problems in our code! Lets go watch Twilight instead!"

Nov 30th 2011 2:34PM (Joystiq)That is true... but there are ways to control the process and limit bugs. Its just that developers almost never ever bother to do so.
I'm not singling out Bethesda... the game industry as a whole is super cavalier about software engineering.
Notice how broken some games are? Yet we continue buying them... serves us right, eh?

Nov 30th 2011 2:26PM (Joystiq)Amen.
Its actually better to just wait. Better on your wallet, better on your stress/rage levels and you actually get a better game.
If you're lucky, you might even forget about the game and get it for $10 from steam a year later. Better deal.
Better better better.
