I Am Alive not planned for PC due to piracy concerns

Nov 28th 2011 2:19AM (Joystiq)
Since the explosion of Indie game publishing, a lot of us who have been gaming for years have come back around to realizing that games are a creative medium and that there is / should be a relationship between developers, publishers, and those of us who buy and play games. Treat us like crap by making us beta test your unfinished work, gouge us on prices, and then outright insult us with crippling DRM or even boneheaded statements like Mettera's, and we won't even bother with you anymore. I've got a limited amount of time to play games, and guess what - the market is flooded with great titles. You have to sell me on why I should spend my precious downtime on yours.

CD Projekt made loads of cash on The Witcher 2, not by treating its audience like children, but by simply releasing a solid product that speaks for itself. What has Ubisoft done lately to convince us they even remotely care about gamers as anything more than sources of income?

Batman: Arkham City PC performance issues linked to DX11, patch incoming

Nov 28th 2011 1:55AM (Joystiq)
@FunkTion Yeah, this is how I got my copy, with my GTX 570. Still, when I booted it up with DX 11 it was gorgeous (the tesellation is great!) in those times when the framerates were steady, before I gave up due to the dips. It definitely makes me happy to have hardware that will run it that well when it's patched.

As for comments to "all titles on all platforms have bugs on launch", well, yes. But in titles from major devs they're usually buried deep in the game somewhere and are things like missing textures, clipping, missing text, etc, that aren't immediately visible within 5 minutes of launch. This is a show-stopper that hits you in the face right away, not some ordinary launch bug.
