Spore creatures join anti-DRM protest

Sep 16th 2008 1:07AM (Joystiq)
No, you're all missing the point.

This 3 installs thing is a HUGE power grab by EA. They want to test the waters, see if mainstream American gamers (not me and you, our parents and little brothers and sisters) will be willing to put up with this.

Then, if they are, they'll tweak it. Maybe 10 installs, or 1 install. You know, like how Microsoft's Office DRM works. "This copy is already licensed, please call Microsoft."

THAT is the real reason we should be against this. They are attempting a power grab, and it is not right.

Megan Fox Wants to Film an Entire Movie Naked!

How about a US version of "Invisible Girl Ea"? It's a rather saucy -- but could be done clean -- Japanese TV series about a woman who gains invisibility powers that malfunction if she tries to get dressed. It was rather infamous for the amount of nudity in it in Japan, especially since it was on TV, but, again, it could be done clean.

There's a certain level of horror and drama that can be taken with just about any superpower gone horribly wrong, Invisibility is prime for that kind of thing.

ESRB to curb early game leaks

Jun 20th 2008 9:56AM (Joystiq)
Dragon Quest 4 was announced by the ESRB about a week or two before the game was actually announced for a US localization.

Of course, given that the JP rom has a full (well, 95%) English, Spanish, French, etc translation... Not too shocking.

New games this week: Spore Creature Creator edition

The demo was actually leaked on Saturday. The Penny Arcade forums kinda *exploded* because of it.

The eleven-minute Automatic Mario masterpiece

There's a few things you might be missing:

Yes, these are Anime (and a few dating sims, I believe) songs, however, they are not the original songs, instead they are being sung by a group of random people from the NicoVideo.jp website -- which is something like a cross between Youtube and 4chan in Japan (so, Youtube and 2chan). Can you imagine a bunch of /b/tards getting together and singing a Weird Al Polka or something? And doing it WELL?

However, the really cool thing about the original MP3 (at least to me) is one of the people singing isn't even real. It's Vocaloid, a program that simulates singing voices. There are even several emulated versions of real life singers.

There are a ton of remade Anime openings and stuff using Vocaloid singers, just do a Youtube Search for the term. :)

THQ makes Dawn of War II official, coming Spring 2009

I think everyone and their mother is hoping for the Tyranids, the race that Blizzard was inspired to make the Zerg by. They have repeatedly said the current engine in DoW1 couldn't handle the sheer number of Tyranid mobs on a given screen, hopefully DoW2 will be able to.

I just wonder what kind of resources the Tyranids would use. Maybe Biomass (gained by eating terrain and your opponents?) and Power?

THQ's Drawn to Life drawn to Wii

Feb 5th 2008 8:55PM (Joystiq)
We need a Wii version of Magic Pengel / Graffiti Kingdom.

This should be obvious to anyone who ever played those games. Drawing with the PS2 controller is a darned shame.

Giving them the ability to read/write to SD cards (for Wii PC data sharing) would also rock. I saw plenty of fanart versions of characters on Youtube for Graffiti Kingdom, it was awesome. I'd love to be able to download those.

The Daily Grind: The MMO you want to play

Jan 14th 2008 3:20PM (Massively)
I wouldn't mind seeing a MMORPG set in the Xanth series, by Piers Anthony. But it'd never make it past the censors.

How about an Enhancement Shaman + Beast-mastery Hunter? You'd nail people coming and going.
