@ilduce620 Are you serious? You do realize that that would make a time gap of over a thousand years between some of the civilizations, right? And how would they explain that on the map for quests? The Byzantines sharing land with just about every other civilization...
@FreekSheet This Age of Empires is truly back to the beginnings of Empires, seeing a strong Greece, the unification of Egypt, etc. The two civilizations added since those two (which the Greeks and Egyptians have a free, trial version essentially), are the Persians and the newly introduced Celts. (Yes ilduce620, the Celts were in AoE2, but that's because history made it that way. They are also responsible for raids in northern Greece, being a pain in Alexander's side, and being the ones to sack Rome for the first time) As far as gameplay goes, it reminds me a lot of AoE2, with only the good parts of the sequels left in.
Things like Advisors add bonus effects for you in each age (limit of one per age), you can find or craft gear for just about everything (including buildings), you unlock the skill tree through a progression system (it will be fully unlocked way before you hit max level), and stronger units cost more population points. Besides that last point (I think), everything else I believe can be disabled in Skirmish modes, to make it as much like AoE2 as possible.
@arkweld Ideas come and go, but in the end, it is the creative director who chooses what makes it in the final build. When those directors say, "okay, just do what you want and not what I want," this is what happens.
@GiantGamer Except its already at almost 23 million crates now and anyone who actually gives the game some time and practice can get used to the controls.
It actually added five characters, and the ability to choose which character you want to play as. They only told you how to unlock two of them, however.
Eh, it's really not that hard to get used to. Sure you might mess up the controls once or twice every now and then, but the game is so quick and easy to keep playing that I can just equate the mistake with all other mistakes, being that it is my fault for making it. Currently, I have the 11th spot on the leaderboards for Construction Yards Ambush and have collected over 7,500 crates. Still loving the game. But yes, I did buy it on iOS because I wanted to show some support for the hours and hours I put into it on PC.
