I have never had any issue with accidentally going into text mode. You have to double-click the analog stick to go into text mode, so it is very difficult to mistakenly do it.
Hopefully a wireless one is in development, but they would still have to get around the console developer.
I own a Texter, and it has proven quite useful. After reading everyone's comments, it seems that no-one has actually tried the device, only criticized it or given an opinion on it. $25 when compared to buying an older game or a full-size akward $10 keyboard seems expensive. When you compare it to a brand new Xbox 360 game at $60, it is not that much. Even compared to one of those $40 controllers it is inexpensive! Also, to use the text mode you double click the analog stick, so there is no issue if the sticks are used in the game. You can easily go in and out of text mode. The learning curve for me was a large one, but it makes typing go considerably faster. I would advise those that criticize to give it a chance. I would recommend it to anyone, and am happy I got one.
Texter turns Xbox 360 controller into keyboard, sorta
