I wonder if they are really that stupid or are just trying to look evil and failing miserably. Sadly, I really think it's the first one... The concept, as I'm sure it's reference MANY times in this thread, is that if it's on the disc, obviously it was ready to go at launch and you held it back from the consumer to try to milk the consumer. The first game to do this, that I know of, was Beautiful Katamari. I just think Japan as a whole doesn't get the concept. There are SEVERAL instances of this throughout this console cycle. I'm really surprised the practice hasn't received this level of attention before now.
Holy ****. I've been bitching at amazon since prime video launched about putting it on PS3. I guess they actually finally listened for once. I am very impressed.
If this "weekly column" gets another week, I am done with this site, and I have been coming here for years. This moron getting paid for his very often whacked out, and simply factually inaccurate opinions is one thing, and bad enough, but joystiq allowing him to troll the thread attached to his own post is just beyond absurd.
@urgan Exactly, the abandoning of turn-based combat is what killed RPGs in the west. I want WASTELAND 2, not Final Fantasy 8 or 12 - 2 (neither of which I've ever bothered to finish). I HATE hybrid turn/real time game. If I want to play an action-rpg, I'll play a Snowblind game. If I'm playing an RPG, NOTHING about the game better be in "real"-time. And for anyone that says turn-based combat will never be popular on a mainstream level, the ten million people that bought FFVII would disagree with you.
@majora1991 That is supposed to be a joke, right? If you think an artist's opinion on what it done with their music remotely ****ing matters, well, I have no clue where you have been for the last 50 years...
@Rocketlauncherboy I think we are about to established whether or not that is, indeed, the case. Honestly, I'm expecting the answer to be yes. "Samples" are tricky law anyway, but even if they did have usage rights, they VERY likely did not have extended usage rights and thus, did have the rights to pass on in the first place.
