PlayStation 3 gets Amazon Instant Video ... kinda out of nowhere

Apr 3rd 2012 1:02PM (Joystiq)
Whoa! Seriously?

Hot damn! I was wondering of Sony was ever going to get their shit together and get this service! As a Prime member, this is awesome!

Microsoft responds to claims of Xbox 360 hard drives storing old credit card info

Mar 30th 2012 1:52PM (Joystiq)
I'm confused, is this data-mining allegedly possible with just the hard drive, or does it have to be done with the console it was paired with, as well? The stories I've read on this seem to be playing fast and loose with the terms.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition getting OSX version, cross-platform multiplayer

Mar 30th 2012 10:50AM (Joystiq)
As long as they've got a Mac port, I don't care if they don't go console.

Finally I get to see what all the fuss was about. :-)

Sega canceling games, cutting jobs in US and Europe to restructure [update: SOA statement]

Mar 30th 2012 10:48AM (Joystiq)
First THQ and now Sega? Interesting how the market suddenly became so hostile to companies that release a lot of license-trash games.

Still, I hope Sega pulls out of this. They can still make good games; they've shown that with the last few Sonic titles. They just completely lost their focus when the Dreamcast died and they're just now starting to find a groove again.

I hope it wasn't too late for them.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium MMO now single-player game, 118 laid off

Mar 29th 2012 2:43PM (Joystiq)
Eesh. Well, I can't say I'm surprised. Launching an MMO is an expensive, risky proposition in the best of financial circumstances, let alone when you're trying to bail out your company like it's the Titanic. I'm not sure how you retrofit an MMO into a single-player game, but I guess we'll find out.

Also, best wishes to the 118 who got laid off. Good luck, you guys.

Closure review: Go into the light

Sounds pretty nifty. I'll probably pick it up later on, though; I've got a huge backlog I'm working through as-is.

Journey is fastest-selling PSN game ever, soundtrack coming April 10

Mar 29th 2012 2:01PM (Joystiq)
Wow, the fastest ever? Including third-party titles? That's pretty awesome.

Definitely a worthy game, too. Kudos to thatgamecompany for making an amazing experience!

My year long quest to defeat Grandia 2's (almost) final boss

Mar 29th 2012 1:09PM (Joystiq)
I remember that fight; it kicked my ass really hard, too! For the longest time, I couldn't beat it. Eventually, I gave up, started a new game, making sure to fight EVERY SINGLE ENEMY for every ounce of XP, Special Coins and Magic Coins I could get, and going through the optional side area before the final dungeon to get the Dragon Mana Egg.

I did finally beat it, though it was a pretty near thing; you screw up one move in a turn, mis-assign one action and you're dead.

Amazon holding 'buy two, get one free' sale

Mar 28th 2012 12:43PM (Joystiq)
Hmm. I can only find two games I really want to get right now.

Maybe I'll see if my wife wants a new DS game. I know she was eyeballing "Crafting Mama" for a while there...

EA still in running for The Consumerist's Worst Company in America

Because when it comes to Microsoft, gamers are apparently like abused trailer-park wives. MS slaps the crap out of them, but whenever the press investigates the abuses, Xbox fans are all "It's just his way! He only hurts me because he LOOOVES me!"
