Ready at Dawn on going from handheld to next-gen, and getting away from GoW

Mar 21st 2012 12:01PM (Joystiq)
I've been really impressed by Ready At Dawn's work on the PSP GoW games, and their Wii port of Okami. I'm excited to see what they could do with an original IP.

Deja Review: Silent Hill HD Collection

Mar 21st 2012 11:49AM (Joystiq)
I'm gonna keep an eye on this one and wait for a good sale. I hope to get it before October; I like to play nothing but horror games for the month leading up to Halloween to get in the spirit, and this would make a GREAT addition to my horror marathon.

Spinning a web from The Amazing Spider-Man's point of view

Funny that they mention that first-person sequence from the trailer. I watched that and thought, "God, I hope they don't make the whole movie look like a video game."

Maybe it'll work better in an actual game.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City review: Evacuation plan

Mar 20th 2012 11:50AM (Joystiq)
@rullers

Borderlands. Left 4 Dead 1 and 2. Gears of War 1-3. Uncharted 3. Every Halo game.

All of them managed to do local co-op just fine without crippling technical difficulties or even noticeable slowdown.

Any developer who pleads technical difficulties in explaining why they didn't do local multiplayer is full of shit and either incompetent, or just looking to sell more copies through online-only play.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City review: Evacuation plan

Yeah, the minute I saw the words "no local co-op," I skipped straight down to write my comment.

There is no freaking excuse not to allow same-couch multiplayer, especially in a co-op campaign game. Other design flaws I can excuse, but a lack of local multiplayer is just unacceptable.

Hydrophobia studio shut down

Always sad to see a studio shut down. That said, I was not impressed with Hydrophobia. At least I got it for free via my PS Plus subscription.

Asura's Wrath reaction no surprise to Matsuyama, dot Hack for NA needs more fan support

Mar 19th 2012 12:44PM (Joystiq)
As much as I love the dot hack games, it seems unlikely that we'll see the new ones in the West. The first bunch had the advantage of being released while dot hack sign was featured on Toonami, which helped get it some publicity (hell, I probably never would have bought the first one if it hadn't been for that show). Since I don't think there's a dot hack series on the air right now in America, I kind of doubt we'll get a port.

Write in, though, I guess. Maybe we'll get lucky.

Ratchet and Clank HD collection in NA this fall, Europe in May

Score! I'm keeping my eye out for this one.

Lego Batman 2 welcomes some friendly faces, unfriendly voices

Mar 15th 2012 5:00PM (Joystiq)
@rigmutton
Don't forget, he said that about Arkham Asylum, too, so it wouldn't be the first time he said he's retiring his Joker voice.

I hope he does make a return for this, though, especially if Conroy voices Batman. It just wouldn't be the same if we had Conroy acting opposite a different Joker. :-(

Silent Hill: Downpour review: When you're strange

Mar 13th 2012 4:11PM (Joystiq)
Interesting. I'm not a huge SH fan (I love the atmosphere and the stories, but the controls always annoy me) but I may give this one a rent.
