"Interplay" didn't make anything. They were just a publisher entity and still are, although now a very shady one.
Brian Fargo(And as you can guess also related to the founder of Wells Fargo), founder of Interplay, was involved in the classic Wasteland true but that was a fairly long time before Fallout and when FO was created it was under a yet not named studio(Later Black Isle) who was able to make it due to the lack of corporate oversight in the first place(Which FO 2 did get, and suffered from)
Zenimax's/Bethesda Softwork's is fine and Skyrim is an improvement but FO 3 was a downer. I hope they live up to their Daggerfall potential. A Fallout MMO however would be made by Zenimax's new MMO branch, not BGS.
I would of preferred Brian Fargo's InXile to have the Fallout IP but whatever. Obsidian not so much, but they have Tim Cain now for a time. And he's basically the "father/creator" of FO not counting Feargus's Wasteland influence.
In the end I'm glad Interplay doesn't have FO to milk it. If Fallout 3 was a horror aside from a fully explorable 3D world, their work would of been a sure-felt disaster in many peoples eyes akin to a nuclear explosion in your head.
It's too bad now people automatically pin the talent of Black Isle to the once public company behemoth Interplay. Two very different groups. And one of them are low-down money grubbing scum bags aside from Brian who founded InXile later on.
