lol, you know what I meant. With his list of what makes it generic, you can apply that same list to any MMO (maybe some minor alterations for certain games) so it seems like by those standards every single MMO is generic and boring.
Those are absolutely terrible examples of it being generic. You could say that about ANY mmo that's out right now. It's not like WoW was an innovation when it came out other than it's art style. Everything else was the same as EQ. The problem is people don't realize how slow the genre moves and expects every new game to come out to be full of innovation. Rift came out with Dynamic events and a whole different look on the class/talent system creating the Souls which I thought was a really good idea. I mean just look at SWTOR, what did that game do? Took the generic MMO gameplay with an already known Star Wars theme and added the Mass Effect communication system....oooooooooo
If we're not counting any F2P games then I'd have to saw WoW for me. I'll never forget all the fun I had in that game even though I realize now just how bad it really is. Aion slightly before that though I may reinstall soon since it's now free to play. But that was over a year ago and nothing's really caught my attention since. SWTOR looked dumb from the first time I saw it and as my friend told me everything about it I knew I'd hate it without having to play it.
So over the past year and a half ive been jumping around on F2P games and they're all pretty much crap except League of Legends. Haters gonna hate but I have fun playing the game. But really until TSW and GW2 I'm sticking to my PS3..... and well PC once CS:GO comes out and i wet my pants in joy.
I'm probably the most excited about any news dealing with The Secret World and Guild Wars 2. They both bring innovations to the MMO world and seem incredibly interesting to play story wise.
Other than that, the gaming industry needs to take a break for me. So many games have come out I still havent completed Deus Ex yet.
Ah thank you thank you. It's actually surprising to hear just how much PvE content there actually is in the original Guild Wars. I've always been a PvE buff and what other people made it seem was GW was all about PvP. I've been so naive since i started playing MMOs 8 years ago.
Awesome, good to know I only have to get to 30/50. I plan on doing it casually since I don't have the time these days to ultra grind MMOs like I used to.
If I have enough time to get 50/50 of the HoM before GW2 comes out then i'll buy the whole Steam package and get this GW show on the road. But I also know absolutely nothing about the game.
To those that know: Would getting all these HoM achievements be difficult? Do I have enough time to do it? Are there people in game who will be doing the same thing? I don't wanna just solo grind the whole thing.
