Paul McCartney working on music for video game
Jan 31st 2012 1:05PM (Joystiq)His sentiment on video games serving as a sort of “gateway” to rest of his music is also provocative. While I’m sure The Beatles, as well as his solo work, will continue to remain within the pop culture nexus, video games are a great way to expose new art in other mediums to people who otherwise would not look for them.
I remember discovering some of my favorite electronic artists, such as Underworld, Leftfield and the Chemical Brothers through the legendary 1995 wipE'out" The Music soundtrack. I also started listening to Amon Tobin after hearing his amazing work with Splinter Cell 3: Chaos Theory.
Effectively, these games made me fall in love with the artist I continue to obsess over to this very day. There is a definite connection between my purchase of one of those games or soundtracks, and my purchase of a festival ticket to see one of these bands many years later.
