Lord of the Rings: War in the North trailer remembers the trilogy

Jul 9th 2011 10:52AM (Joystiq)
Just finished EE blu-rays. This game looks amazing. Can't wait for the new movies either. And for whoever said they want the theatrical cuts...I don't get that. Over the three movies there are several hours of scenes, new music, effects, etc. included. The Fellowship of the ring get completely remastered (the theatrical blu-ray got blasted), and TONS of extras. Even if you just like the movies, there's no question which ones to watch.

Heavenly Sword 2 could have gone to Hell

Oct 6th 2010 10:49PM (Joystiq)
One of my favorite games. It was graphically amazing, the battles were on an epic scale, I loved the asian inspiration...It's sucks that this will never be made. Maybe like ICO or Beyond Good and Evil this will get dug back up. It's in the same class and deserves the same attention. I believe Nariko could be a Kratos for PS3 if marketed right. The game came out too early in PS3's life cycle with too few users.

Carmack blows minds with id Software's Rage, running on iPhone at 60fps with 'megatextured' graphics (video)

I love Android and my EVO...but gaming is very disappointing on Android. There were far more compelling textured and 3D games on my Palm Pre...which is odd, given there's only a few thousand apps and its underpowered next to the EVO. So, I am very jealous (a rare thing for my feeling towards Apple in general) that gaming is so much better on Apple iPhone and iPad.

Sprint halts EVO 4G update due to reports of it bricking phones

Jun 29th 2010 9:30AM (Engadget)
It doesn't brick the phone. It's impatience. I downloaded it and it did go through about 4 resets and them hung on the intro 4G screen for several minutes. I too thought...maybe its bricked but in about 4 minutes...it worked and works better than ever. So people couldn't wait four minutes pulled there batteries and got on forums and this accounts for 1%. There are impatient idiots everywhere. The update and the phone is solid.. to water's dislike.

HTC EVO 4G launch day line watch

@mjones41 at radio shack you make appointments for certain times so there isn't lines. And your preorder is held for two days after they arrive. So you set your pickup fri, sat, sun. Good planning isn't a bad thing. If there were lines I'd wait to get one or order online.

Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1 delayed to end of the year

Isn't that the same time that Android comes out as well? WinMo 7 maybe vapored and pushed back repeatedly. The level of catchup and then testing they need to do isn't even funny.

PS3 Poll Police: Another firmware rumor, another poll

Jun 2nd 2008 8:30AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Diehard PS3 fans have been waiting for in game XMB longer than Hollywood has been waiting for Lindsay Lohan to make a good movie. Well, don’t hold your breath on the movie bit but a number of sites are reporting that In Game XMB may be coming June 10 as part of Firmware Upgrade 2.4.

As has been widely reported, Firmware 2.4 will include a trophy system. And Sony already has a game, PixelJunk Eden on the way which will utilize this system. As part of In Game XMB, PS3 users will have a universal friends list, personal soundtracks and possibly better audio and video communication.

According to insiders, Sony is currently running through the entire PS3 library to determine compatibility with all existing titles. Those who should know don’t think there will be a problem but Sony wants to make sure. Also, as exciting as custom user music (imagine playing Linkin Park while fragging some idiot in COD4) is, it won’t automatically be available. It will be part of the software kit available to developers going forward so, unless games are patched, it won’t be available for a while yet. The same applies to the new trophy system.

Finally, it appears that the latest firmware update will be released June 10th, two days prior to the release of a little known game, Metal Gear Solid 4. Hopefully the update won’t get lost in the ensuing excitement.
