Kinect bundled with slim 4GB Xbox 360 Arcade for $300, new console for $200 in August

@LoneWolf18

I agree I wonder if they changed it based off of poor feedback from the glossy finish? Its pretty but it really bugs me that it seems to suck the dust right out of the air. I don't care if it looks dusty, I just don't want the fan and internals getting clogged up.

@RedRaptor82 I'm not entirely 100% on this but if the new 360 systems are like the old ones, only the systems equipped with hard drives have backwards compatibility. The 4gb on the new "arcade" 360 slim is just a built-in 4gb flash card, not really a hard drive.

The expansion bay they refer to is a little compartment on the bottom of the 360 slim where the new HDD units fit in. So yes, if you were to buy the 4gb model you could later install a hard drive, although they aren't available yet (and who knows how bad MS will price them, if the old HDD prices are any indication).

@ThatStuffsLethal It's probably far less of a dust magnet as well. I'm so worried about my shiny elite getting clogged with dust just mere weeks after getting it, I may take to covering it with a cloth when not in use.

GameStop listing suggests $150 price for Kinect

Which is why I believe folks will be much more hesitant this time around to drop big money on new motion controls. Plus, Microsoft doesn't have Nintendo's family friendly reputation behind them.

@here2000 That seems like a weak justification, though. Considering folks can get an entire console for $150 (the Arcade 360, after it is discounted for the new one) it seems overkill for a camera add-on, even if it is fairly nifty. Still, this isn't officially the price point, so it's really all just speculation for now.

@nembutals I'm sure it doesn't come with one, they just redesigned the chatpad to fit with their new glossy black motif.

@(Unverified) From what I saw on the Game Trailers feed after the keynote, it looks like a new proprietary HDD. It could have just been a special plastic jacket to make any drive fit but I doubt it.

If they could get it to the $60 range with a simple bundled game (like the Kinect Sports dealy) I'd be interested. It looks pretty nifty, but certainly not $150 nifty. And the games had better not be full $60.

Kinect motion controls coming to Forza

I can't say the Forza demo looked very enticing. Walking around and inspecting the vehicle? The driving looked like a somewhat fun minigame add-on for Forza 3 but I couldn't see shelling out for a whole new game.

@Stumblebee You can. It's not as convenient since I believe the HDD is removed from the bottom of the unit now. Also, its a new HDD so I still wonder how they're going to handle transfer from old HDD for upgraders. Hopefully it doesn't involve a seperate transfer kit purchase...
