Tetsuya Takahashi earned his place in JRPG pantheon 14 years ago with Xenogears, and while Nobuo Uematsu is indeed a marvelous composer, his name cannot be mentioned without also speaking of Yasunori Mitsuda. Mitsuda got his real start rounding out the Chrono Trigger score when Uematsu took ill, but he ASCENDED with the Chrono Cross soundtrack. That was utter brilliance.
And yes, composers should be on the Mt. Rushmore of JRPGs. The soundtrack is at least one third the experience... and definitely what I remember the most from all my favorites.
The main screenshot hurts my heart. The Arabic script on the fighter plane is composed of disconnected letters displayed completely backwards Even if it were supposed to be a mirrored image, it would still be unreadable!
