Halo DS plot thickened by video footage
Oct 2nd 2007 6:59PM (Joystiq)Actually, if you look close enough, about 1m 10s into the video it shows the wifi sync light blinking.
Paris Hilton shills for Nintendo; Microsoft flattered
Jan 26th 2006 8:48PM (Joystiq)Do you live under a rock? You'd have to be ignorant not to hear about the DS's success, especially if you're visiting gaming/news websites.
Otam,
Do you honestly think the average Nintendo/Sony fan cares about what microsoft does with their products?
It's the xbox fanboys that got pissed off about it.
No one can blame them. If you were left to buy an xbox for $700+ off ebay, after celebs got thiers before you and for free, you'd be pissed too.

Jan 26th 2006 2:41PM (Joystiq)Bill Gates owns about 10 or so charity organizations. What's this have to do with him giving away xbox's
to celebs??
Those weren't exactly cancer or lukemia patients
he gave them to. They were celebs who can already afford to buy one for every single room in thier houses. Not to mention they were given to them before they were available to the public to even buy.

Paris Hilton shills for Nintendo; Microsoft flattered
Jan 26th 2006 3:25AM (Joystiq)1) Microsoft GAVE away 360's to celebs before it was available to the public.
2) Nintendo sold custom DS's to celebs, 2 months after it's holiday release to raise money for charity. There was never a shortage, only unexpected demand.
Even if there was a shortage, they still BOUGHT thier DS's, AFTER it was released.
A publicity stunt by Nintendo? Yes, Nintendo uses celebs to advertise thier products. No one ever denied it and No one gives a damn about celebrities being used in advertising.
This is Vladimir's way of twisting an article to rally fanboys to bash Nintendo.
Paris Hilton shills for Nintendo; Microsoft flattered
Jan 26th 2006 12:15AM (Joystiq)including Vladmir and the other half aren't even reading the comments.
No one cares if companies use celebrities to advertise thier products. No one resents microsoft for using celebrities to advertise thier 360.
What pissed gamers off is microsoft pushing them to the back of the line so they could give them away to
celebrities who generally don't care about gaming and ultimately leaving thier hardcore fans/gamers to buy them from ebay for $700+ - $1500+ price tags.
3 months later, supply is still short, demand still high, and now some of those celebrities are throwing thier 360's away, which is what most of them will probably do.
Good job Microsoft.
PSP outsells DS in US by 1 million
Jan 25th 2006 5:06PM (Joystiq)They dubber the old chart as "bad math day"
PSP - 3.63M units (35% marketshare)
DS - 2.58M units (25% marketshare)
GBA - 4.26M units (41% marketshare)
Compared to most sources, the psp figures are right, but the DS is still missing around 300k, GBA 400k.
Thier market share numbers also don't add up right.
35% + 25% +41% = 101%
Nice job on correcting "bad math day" Mercury.
I think it's safe to say thier charts are missing data/invalid/unreliable.
DS back atop Japanese sales charts
Jan 25th 2006 12:40PM (Joystiq)PSP to increase lead over DS in 2005
Jan 24th 2006 8:17PM (Joystiq)Sony has only sold about 2.3m units in Europe, ds around 3.5m.

Not all of those titles will be released this year, Final Fantasy 3 probably won't be out til Q4 in Japan(07 in US?), but there's still plenty of franchises coming out, add Metroid Prime: Hunters and the 3 Brain Training games to your list.
Why does everyone compare the PSP's shipped numbers to the DS's sold numbers?
