Kinect open-source PC drivers not example of hacking, says Microsoft

Nov 22nd 2010 3:44PM (Big Download)
By claiming to be able to define what "hacking" means, Microsoft is reserving for themselves to stamp out whatever uses they disapprove of in the future. So, yeah, still a non-zero evil value.

Cliff Bleszinski (probably) beat more NES games than you

Sep 25th 2010 5:12AM (Joystiq)
I just looked through GameFAQs to make a list, I count 90 that I've completed. Among them are Batman, Solar Jetman, Milon's Secret Castle, Contra (without the extra life code), Deadly Towers, Athena, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Gauntlet.

Might and Magic Clash of Heroes coming to DS August 2009

May 14th 2009 3:05PM (Joystiq)
This is as different from classic Might & Magic as a thing can be. Jon Van Caneghem, where are you?

DS Daily: Pick three

Aug 22nd 2008 11:22PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer, Geometry Wars Galaxies, and Elite Beat Agents. (There are many others, but those are the three that come to mind right now. Clubhouse Games would probably be on the list if it weren't for my forced separation from that game....)

Rumor: Konami trying its hands at retro revival

Jul 31st 2008 10:49PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors is certainly the coolest of the offered possibilities, but is unlikely since it was developed by Lucasarts, who these days aren't interested in much other than milking movie franchises.

Goemon's a close second, and it's certainly been long enough that we should see about getting a new edition of that.

Fairies are the most annoying ever

Jul 30th 2008 5:40AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Navi's voice isn't nearly as annoying as most people make it out to be. It's not like you can't just ignore the C-up button whenever she wants to give advice. Some people get themselves too worked up over little things.

However, she does kind of fall flat relative to Tatl (personality) and Midna (snark) in the dialogue department.

Banjo Kazooie coming to XBLA later this year

Jul 14th 2008 6:25PM (Joystiq)
Banjo-Kazooie does hold up fairly well (check YouTube for playthrough videos if you don't believe me). The biggest obstacle is going in and removing the sly Nintendo references scattered about. Of course, this means they'd also have to remove the walking "N" logo that appears on startup.

1C announces first console titles: Captain Blood and IL-2 Sturmovik

Jun 15th 2008 12:52PM (Joystiq)
I wonder if this developer knows there's already been a game called Captain Blood?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Blood_(video_game)

Captain Blood was an early experiment in procedural content generation created for the Atari ST in 1988. Not tremendously well-known today, but fondly remembered by some for its heavy atmosphere and exploration gameplay.

More retail confirmation of Elebits 2, Docomodake

Jun 5th 2008 10:04PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I found Elebits to be a highly underrated game. It was a lot of fun building the gravity beam's power high enough to move buildings, and the challenge mode levels were amazingly difficult. Only real problem, I'd say, is that the game slowed -way- down when lots of stuff was moving.
