I'm guessing that NECA plans to make quite the profit on this "Premium" item. Im glad the toy developers felt that the DMG Gameboy-quality speakers they used were adequate enough to produce that awesomely satisfying "kerplunk" like sound of a portal gun. They instantly saved me $140 the second i heard its sad, garbled attempt to sound like a portal gun. haha

@drunkingamebar ive been a long-time lurker here on joystiq. i finally gave in and signed up in order to comment on this post. i hope the same thing. I'd hate to imagine a world of mostly (...or only- Gasp!) F2P games. i feel that while F2P games will see a modest rise in success. This will lead to more advanced F2P games, but they will not replace the retail game. The current F2P developers simply don't have the chops to pull off a game that is as masterfully designed as a Zelda game or as engrossing and deep as the Mass Effect trilogy. It's bad enough that physical media will (eventually) become obsolete due to the rise of downloadable or streaming services that offer bigger experiences (no limits on disc space). I would hate to see a market even more focused on "Freemium" gaming than it already is.
