Gadget nuts are not how companies make their money. For $99, a lot of people that don't know anything about their TV will get one. Examplez: iPod shuffle, Wii, etc.
Yeah, I think this is what he was going for, but he could have worded it better. Something like, "You don't see used book sales cannibalizing sales of new books." As for DVDs and CDs....who still buys those?
In my personal opinion, used sales generate a certain amount of buzz that probably leads to a company making money they wouldn't have further on down the line.
