Feb 10th 2012 5:17PM (Joystiq)The reason they don't do this is because the "competitive" scene works the same way- old cards are eventually made illegal in "standard" format in favor of new ones, so they can keep selling you new stuff.
Why let you play with the old ones, when they can just encourage you to buy the new ones instead?

Feb 3rd 2012 2:29PM (Joystiq)The real key isn't how it plays now, but how it plays in 6 months. I bought an expensive madcatz stick in the past, brand new, and some of the buttons stopped working two months later (faulty wiring connecting the buttons to the control circuit).
I still like my stick, but you should have at least a little bit of electrical wiring experience before you purchase one.

Feb 2nd 2012 10:20AM (Joystiq)G4 did a documentary on the fighting game community, from the perspective of Mike Ross. It's not as good (there's no real Steve vs Billy-esque conflict) but it's still worth a watch, especially if you've ever wondered what all the hype surrounding fighters is about.
