Gaming magazines influence boys' self-image

Sounds like someone knew exactly what they wanted out of this study.

God. Some people should be hung for the way the predetermine results.

Sega: Wii hype may soon wear off

You might want to take a look at that statement again. Creativity does not equate to graphical horsepower, and any one nieve enough to tell you that is an idiot. Of course, if you want to treat what he said that way, you are but a few stalks short of a strawman argument. Way to skip off the surface of a real issue in favor of Nintendo-driven irrational exhuberance.

This is a real issue. How long can Nintendo keep their gameplay philosophy propped up while third parties keep screwing it up? When it comes down to it, if you don't have gameplay, like the near future may be, you better have some damn good graphics to attract players. If anything, there is some relationship. You can survive with both, but the lack of one is hard to make up for.

And Nintendo isn't immune to that.

Project Sylpheed demo warps onto Live

Wow. Brian and Brandon. That was pointless. This is simply the mirror image of the Sony shill, and it's no less of an excercise in futility coming from the 360 fanboys. Posting a list of how many games are coming only tells me how much p***s envy you have for the other system. Yep. Looking pretty insecure guys.

Halo 3 Collector's Edition: lacking in mysterious extra discs [update]

Jun 8th 2007 7:11PM (Joystiq)
I'm disappointed that Joystiq was so quick to wave the Blu-ray flag on this issue. Why are people allergic to two disk games? Does it give meaning to Sony's bullet-point list of features that someone else does something different, if not better and cheaper?

It also disappoints me that Joystiq insists that there is something fundamentally wrong with splitting the game. If you have to split a game between multiple disks, it is more than reasonable to split it along single player and multiplayer lines. In fact, that's one of the BETTER ideas I have heard! You typically play one or the other in a given gaming session. A multiplayer disk would get me into my game faster, leave more space for the respective modes...and, the best part of it all, it would NOT force Blu-ray on me!

I said Joystiq is waving Sony's flag. I might be wrong. But they sure are doing something to Sony's pole, that's for sure.

CNET's best video game controllers of all time

If this article has solved anything, it's that game controllers and their ranking will always be great fanboy flame bait.

Microsoft and Wal-Mart sued over Xbox-related fire

May 26th 2007 12:44PM (Joystiq)
Oh my god, Microsoft killed a kid in their unholy pursuit of profits!!!

...not that I really believe it. I'm just preempting the alarmist media as much as I can.

PSM: Sixaxis will rumble this year

@ Jebus: "but gameplay without grafix is meaningless."

I have seen a game designed to be played by a blind person. It was compelling, suspenseful, and fun.

And you say...?

Itagaki: putting Ninja Gaiden on PSP would upset fans

Damn. I have been saying this about the PSP since about two months after it came out.

Guess who feels all validated suddenly?

Petition for immediate PS3 price cut

May 17th 2007 11:39PM (Joystiq Playstation)
For the good of a company who COULD do things right if given the chance, I, a longtime Sony-hater, will sign that petition.
