Second Mass Effect book, Ascension, announced

Dec 22nd 2007 12:31AM (Joystiq)
I know about this book. I was browsing Amazon on 11/27/07 and I saw they had a publication date of July 31, 2007 for Mass Effect #2 [Mass Market Paperback]
By: Drew Karpyshyn. I immediately pre-ordered that bitch. It's $7.99. I'm looking at the order in my history and it lists an ISBN of 0345498526.

Now will they keep that date? Dunno.

But what does that say about Mass Effect #2? There's no way they'll release it next year, is there? That's too much to hope for! When are they going to tell us about Mass Effect in-game DLC?

An early look - Letterman calls O'Reilly a bonehead

Oct 26th 2006 11:27PM (AOL TV)
Someone sincerely doesn't like Bill O'Reilly? Wow, that's like someone sincerely not liking drinking Kool Aid. It's not good any way, and it's really bad for you even if you do happen to enjoy it. Why that man is #1 in cable 'news,' I'll never know.

Engadget's relaunch giveaways: let's start with a Zune

I'd have to say "Down in the Shacks Where the Satellite Dishes Grow" by The Judybats. Wish me luck!

Maybe Denny Crane just likes men?

Feb 22nd 2006 5:51PM (AOL TV)
I was speculating about this weeks ago. Denny did a big speech 4-5 episodes ago (the one where he got engaged) about how wives came and went, but his friendships were constant. He slept in bed with the David Spader character (no sex, just sleep), and I thought that might be breaking down some of those barriers to homosexuality in Denny's warped little mind.

Mark my words, people--this is coming and it will be frickin' hilarious!

If you're not watching this show, you're missing the best dramady on TV.

NBC clamps down on Lazy Sunday videos

Feb 17th 2006 7:03PM (AOL TV)
***NEWS FLASH*** Traditional Media Outlets Don't Get the New Media. This video has nearly singlehandedly revived SNL. Now if it could just be this funny consistently, it could be culturally relevant again.

Why aren't you watching the Olympics?

Feb 17th 2006 9:17AM (AOL TV)
I saw just a bit of the opening ceremonies, maybe 5 minutes, and then turned away. The coverage being only during prime time really turned me off. I remember watching the events live as a kid, and I much preferred that. Also, I get so tired of the hackneyed voice-overs 'athelete overcomes adversity' background segments that our networks run incessently.

Finally, I get so frustrated by the networks' refusal to 'get it' when it comes to flag-waving. The spirit of the Olympics is putting nationality aside to engage in a kind of pure competition.

Anna, you're right about the time-shifting, too. I want to see it live, not in digest format later in the evening.

Battlestar Galactica: Black Market

Jan 28th 2006 12:30AM (AOL TV)
I keep hearing that the show has 'jumped the shark.' It hasn't. It is having a weak run after the hiatus. This episode was simply OK. I was surprised that we really had such a Lee-centric episode. We didn't really see anyone else. It seemed odd that we only really saw the Black Market story through Lee's eyes with the exception of the set-up.

Last week's I found to be horrible. The show has established that, unlike Star Trek, there are consequences for injuries & actions. Roslyn's miraculous recovery went against the grain of that established credibility.

I also didn't like the abandonment of any reference to the timeline. In Resurrection Ship 2, we see Gina (Six's Pegasus Clone) just getting off the floor of her cell with welts all over her body from beatings. In the next week's episode she's an established leader of the resistance who has fully formed resistance cells who have had sufficient time to train, plan, and execute terrorist actions.

I also thought the resolution of the cliffhanger we bagan "Resurrection Ship Part 1" with was a cop out.

That said, BSG is still one of the best shows on TV. It's having a bit of a lull, but no way is it going away. I wonder how much the creative team that drove Season 1 have been pulled away by the studio/network to focus on other projects? Didn't we hear a big story about Ron Moore being signed to a big 2-year deal with NBC? Maybe he's not spending as much time on Q/A for the show as he was previously.

The Book of Daniel: Axed!

Jan 24th 2006 7:26PM (AOL TV)
I completely disagree, Stan. You are way overstaing your case. No character in the show was perfect, but they weren't a family of mass murderers. I rather liked the show, but saw it as a bit too close of a Desperate Housewives clone.

I also disliked that the religious element of the show was blown out of size by a vocal minority of religious zealots. Sure the show was over the top in the character's flaws, but in the end they used their faith to overcome adversity. Isn't that what Christianity is about...? Well, that's what it's supposed to be about anyway.

I'll miss the show. I gave it a chance--it's a real shame that people who had never seen the show before (and never will) kept it off the air in some key markets.

West Wing canceled - BREAKING NEWS

Jan 22nd 2006 9:07PM (AOL TV)
I think it would be good dramatically if Vinick won the election. It would really tie up the loose threads of the show neatly, if bitterly for the series. One thing that I've liked about the show is that it portrays idealistic politicians doing their best. Particularly this season I've liked Vicick and Santos--I think both would be decent presidents in the world of the West Wing.

If there is a Vinick victory, it would give a great opportunity for a commentary on bipartisainship. There's great drama in that sort of conflict. No reason why it has to go out sickly sweet, now is there? End on a high note!
