So it isn't something the public will get to play in any major way?
Is it something we can play in a general way? How about a private way?

Vita won't support simultaneous web browsing and gameplay

@Knives Chau

Are you shocked that people want different features than yourself?

I use the web browser on the 3DS. I didn't think I would, but it is very helpful.

Lots of people said they didn't want something simply because they haven't tried it. The same thing happened with cross-game chat. I never thought I would need it until I started using it on the 360... now I use it all the time. The same thing happened with multitasking on my phone. I thought it was silly, until I used webOS. Now the iPhone implemented primitive multitasking.

Lots of people don't understand the value of features until they have become commonplace. Then it is difficult to go back to a time before the feature.

Don't be so closed-minded. I can think of many reasons to want to be able to switch to a web browser while playing a game.

Actually... you should check out Uncharted for Vita's touch-screen controls. It looks as if it was designed for the iPhone. The touch-screen controls could easily be ported to any touchscreen device that has the horsepower to pump out the graphics.

In essence, they are ensuring that Vita games can be easily ported to other platforms. Now you are right about Super Mario 3D Land being unlikely on any other device. It makes use of the tight analog controls and the 3D effects, ensuring we are unlikely to see it elsewhere. But just watch some of the videos of Uncharted being played on a touch screen. You may change your tune. In fact, the game looks a lot like it is playing itself.

But Sony reps also said a lot of other stuff that has never come true or has turned out to be blatant lies.

Only a fool believes a thing a Sony rep says.

Just like a patch to the PS3 enabling cross-game chat, PS2 Backwards compatibility, and in-game soundtracks is coming any day.

People, don't buy vapor. Don't buy hype. If you want the Vita, get it for what it has CONFIRMED. Speculation is just that... speculation. Don't buy something on the potential for what maybe someone may add into the system, cause you are buying nothing but empty hopes and dreams.

Likewise, don't buy the Vita expecting to play PS1 games. Only when it is confirmed, will it be confirmed.

MotorStorm devs saved from Apocalypse by Sony

For some facts to back up my post.

According to VGChartz, the motorstorm series has sold...

3.86 Million - Original Motorstorm
1.20 Million - Pacific Rift
0.20 Million - Apocalypse

There is clearly a point of diminishing returns. Even though the user base of the PS3 is MUCH larger now that it was when the original Motorstorm launched, the sequels sold far fewer copies.

To me, this sends a message that the series needs to be put to rest for a while. Continuing to pump out more isn't the answer. Let is sleep for a few years. Perhaps work on a PS4 version to launch with the next generation. But for god's sake, don't keep milking it until it is dead.

The same thing goes for Resistance.

3.99 Million - Resistance: Fall of Man
2.24 Million - Resistance 2
0.65 Million - Resistance 3

These games have OBVIOUSLY been played out, and to keep pumping out sequels with fewer and fewer sales... while the system's install base continues to grow, is sheer folly.

MotorStorm devs saved from Apocalypse by Sony

First of all, I'm happy the developer was given a much-needed turbo-boost of cash. It is always a shame when developers of any kind close up shop.

That said, I really have to wonder about the thought process behind 'More Motorstorm'.

I think Motorstorm was a fine game. Then there was a sequel... and another sequel. In a single console's lifespan, they have already saturated the market. Most people don't need three copies of an arcade racer... especially one sold at $60.

Take a look at the competition for arcade racers. There are a ton of them. If you look at the grandaddy of arcade racers, Mario kart, there is only ever ONE version of the game per console life. Not two. not THREE. Just one.

Lots of people played one of the Motorstorm titles, and never ever completed it. They didn't play through all the tracks. They only played until they were tired of it. Then there is a sequel. Lost of the first group didn't bother picking up the sequel because they feel like they didn't finish or get their money's worth out of the game. Continuing to pump out sequels reaches a point of diminishing returns, as more and more players drop off with each release... and new players fail to come into the fold.

This same methodology has been applied to many of the PS3 exclusives. Check out Resistance and Killzone as examples.

As the console in 3rd place, Sony and its teams of exclusives should be working on more original content to attract a larger crowd, and not re-hashing the same games over and over.

If Motorstorm failed to impress someone early on in the console's life, the sequels aren't going to do much for them either. They keep expecting to squeeze the same customers again and again instead of trying something new to attract new customers. And how many times can you ask your existing customer base to pay $60 for a slightly tweaked upgrade... every two years?

At least with the Vita, they are taking a new approach, but honestly, I'd like to see more new IP instead of 'Game-you-already-played-in-mini-form'.
