Japanese Nintendo downloads: LostWinds, Phalanx

Dec 23rd 2009 3:26AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'll definitely be buying LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias later today. Is School of Darkness (Lit) worth 1,000 points?

I wanna see a Flipnote animation of him hunting wolverines in Alaska.

One of the screen shots for the manga shows that you can select to view it in either Japanese or English text. So, maybe that is a good sign it will be released outside of Japan.

Make a little messy in your pants before you go, and I'm sure you'll be fine.

I bought the Animal Crossing version.

@ rTwelve: The second screen is the "Units Conversion" screen. You can select from the following:

Length (centimeters, meters, kilometers, inches, feet, yards, miles, Japanese units)
Weight/Mass (grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds, carats, tons, Japanese units)
Volume (milliliters, liters, cubic meters, ounces, gallons, barrels, cups, Japanese units)
Time (seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, years, centuries)
Area (square meters, square feet, square yards, square miles, hectares, acres, Japanese units)
Speed (meters/s, meters/m, kilomters/h, light speed, feet/s, miles/h, knots, mach)
Temperature (centigrade, Farenheit, Kelvin)
Age (human, cats, small dogs, large dogs, hamsters, parakeets, rabbits, horses)

Metareview: Dead Rising Chop 'Till You Drop [update]

Feb 26th 2009 8:31PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I never played the 360 version, so my impressions aren't based on any type of comparison.

I wavered a lot about whether to buy it, sometimes changing my mind 2 or 3 times a day each time new videos popped up on the Internet. Finally, I decided simply to take a chance on having fun with it regardless of the negative comments (and because there weren't very many other new games this month to spend money on).

I've only spent about 90 minutes with the game so far (because I'm trying to get through Another Code: R before getting too engrossed in another game). While I certainly understand the disparaging remarks about this game "underperforming", it took me less than an hour to get beyond all of that and just get into the business of experiencing "Dawn of the Dead" in game-form. It certainly isn't perfect, and I probably paid too much for it, but so far the game is ridiculous, nasty, zombie-killing fun. (I should probably finish it before buying House of the Dead: Overkill, which I completely expect to be a much more fulfilling zombie-massacring experience.)
