Portal 2 delayed until 2011

Jun 10th 2010 9:21AM (Joystiq)
Only if you don't count the original TF2, announced in 1998 and previewed in 1999. I think TF2 was more a case of perpetually promising more info and not delivering it. Left 4 Dead was pushed back at least once. Don't remember if L4D2 was ever bumped.

Don't get me wrong, Valve is my favorite developer by far, but they don't make it easy on those of us waiting for their next release. I remember the wait for HL2. It was nuts.

Portal 2 delayed until 2011

It'll be great when it comes out. But has Valve ever, ever, ever, EVER given a release date that it's met? I think they need to learn how to pad their estimates, since they clearly have *no idea* how long it takes to do things.

Call of Duty has delivered 17M map packs, but continued success 'only' through retail, Kotick says

Everyone here seems to be missing the real issue in this article: the brick and mortar retail chains are still powerful enough that Kotick has to kiss their rings whenever he talks about digital distribution being a success, in spite of his position at one of the biggest entertaiment companies. *They* are the ones keeping game prices inflated and street dates tied to shipping boxes to warehouses.

GOG in the Machine: Rise of the Triad and Seven Kingdoms 2

Oh man, ROTT was awesome. And deliciously silly. My favorite part was that it would use a Christmas theme around the holidays, according to the date on your system calendar. Winter break was that much more fun.

DS Daily: Any DS shortage in your area?

Feb 21st 2007 5:16PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I went out to replace my DS Lite this weekend and I went to EB Games, EBX, FYE, and Best Buy. They were all out. The guy at Best Buy told me they had a shipment of 70 in 2 weeks ago. All gone. I was not happy.

So then I went to Toys 'R' Us as a last-ditch attempt, and the girl in the gaming section tells me "oh yeah, we've got them in all the colors. Which do you want?" Go figure. So... a little of column A and a little of column B.

Rumorang: Apple's game console

Dec 6th 2006 5:00PM (Joystiq)
I'm with Lorben. Now that they're Intel based and programs like Cider and Parallels exist, I'm betting it has more to do with PC gaming than console gaming. I think Tortora is overthinking this one...why the hell would Apple bother?
