Research team "near production" of a cheap lightbulb, lasts up to 60 years

There will be new jobs created from technological advances to replace them. Someone's gotta make them flashlights that'll last for a year on 2 D batteries...

Research team "near production" of a cheap lightbulb, lasts up to 60 years

Jan 30th 2009 6:20PM (Engadget)
I visited my aunt's farmhouse out in rural Illinois once when I was a kid. She had a crazy old light bulb in one of the closets there. She said that the light bulb was something like 70 years old. I was afraid that when she turned it on, it would finally be the last time, but she flipped it on and off over and over and it was still going very strong. She told me that it was fairly normal for light bulbs to last that long.. they'd pretty much last until they'd break from other reasons.
.. Not sure if it's still going or not, she sold the house a few years ago.

i once called the cops and hung up, and then they kept calling back and i got freaked out and kept hanging up on them. my mom finally answered the phone and they yelled at her and said they were sending people down to yell at me. I hid in the closet and wouldn't come out for anything. they finally left after they realized that i was seriously freaked and wasn't about to move from my hiding spot (unreachable by adult).
and to this day, i'm still afraid of cops. go figure.

Monster Cable tries to make it better, drops minigolf suit

@d840

You would be right, but see you're totally wrong because it works both ways. You can't put out a complete shit product and expect people to be jumping all over it forever. Eventually a fruit company comes along and convinces people that they were better all along, but you have to pay more. People are for the most part not masochists. There's a reason why people don't generally buy Saturns when they can afford something a bit better. If there were a standard cable manufacturer that supplied 90% of the cables and people were generally not satisfied with them, then Monster Cable would have a shot at succeeding.

The imagery associated with your description is vomit-inducing, and I just ate breakfast.

I didn't know they made Firefox for Paris Hilton's virginia. I don't really like Paris Hilton the person, but I certainly wouldn't mind "surfing" her "web" all day if given the opportunity.

Chinese-made solar-powered car gets 150 kilometers on a 30-hour charge

Huh? This isn't a plug-in charger; it charges constantly as long as the sun is shining on it. If it takes you 30 min to get to work, it's probably at most 30 miles away (more likely somewhere in the low 20s). You can park outside and get that amount back while you're working.
I'd be more worried about vandals fucking your shit up.
