Yeah there's no way a PSP could emulate a DC. DC had many features that the PS2 couldn't even do natively (antialiasing, near-infinite geometry), let alone under emulation, and so a PSP which is like a PS 1.5 in terms of power would never be able to handle it.

Americans' love for metaphors exists whether Microsoft's HQ is in the USA, Europe or even China.

There is literally NO correlation between those two points so I really can't see why you made yours.

I understand the concept of pedagogy, but I can't see how using a simple metaphor to explain a simple concept is necessary. What Sony does is already really fucking simple and doesn't need any metaphors of athletes or cars or whatever else you fools want to use.

Or maybe I'm just crediting Americans with too much intelligence to work out what Sony's doing, and metaphors really ARE required for you guys? If that's the case then hey - just let me know and I'll be off your case.

Exactly. From cars to consoles, Japanese people buy Japanese. They don't even believe it's possible to make rice outside of Japan. I really don't see why it's such a surprise to see a Western console in third place there.

Everywher else on earth though, the 360 and Wii are selling great while the PS3 sits on shelves and shop assistants are told to throw even the kitchen sink at trying to sell it.

E3 2005 Killzone trailer had Joystiq writers wanking over themselves, each other, and the Sony logo. My Joystiq RSS feed was full of 'next generation starts with Sony' and 'PS3 is the real next gen' bullshit etc.

Roll on 2 years and like a million Sony fuck-ups later and it's not fashionable to have your dick up Sony's arse any more, so Joystiq sticks it somewhere else.
